The careless decision to reduce our force posture in Europe, along with moves by Pete Hegseth and his political henchmen to force out some of our finest general officers is amateur hour at best and deadly at worst. Hegseth continues to surprise and disrespect our greatest allies and some of our best military professionals with impulsive decisions not grounded in reality or good judgment. If the rumors are true that Hegseth is trying to sideline General Chris Donahue, one of our nation’s finest warfighters, by downgrading U.S. Army Europe-Africa to a 3-star command, he is taking another step down a dangerous path. A step that is not in the best interests of our nation or our servicemembers. General Donahue has dedicated his entire career to upholding the high standards and warrior ethos that Hegseth claims he is restoring to our ranks. Gen. Donahue has led Soldiers at all levels in Airborne (including Ft. Bragg’s 82nd) and Mechanized units, the 75th Ranger Regiment, and our most prestigious special operation units. He deployed over 20 times in support of Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, New Dawn, Inherent Resolve, Atlantic Resolve, Freedom’s Sentinel, European Assure, Deter and Reinforce, and in support of the Sudan crisis. Hegseth would do well to surround himself with more patriots like General Donahue and to get his henchmen, who are not qualified to carry Donahue's bag, out of the Pentagon. @servantseeker1 One of the most genuinely heart warming conversations I had was how one did tell me he used to be involved in “orthodox discord” but basically as soon as he started attending he realised how horrific it was and how he was sinning and repented

All the young male converts and catechumens at my parish are delightful wonderful people, which seems to be most people’s experience. As far as I can tell most of today’s discourse is being driven by internet-only larpers who never attend a parish

So to lighten up today’s discourse, an anecdote once told by @frjohnwhiteford "I once heard about a group of seminarians that did a moleben asking God to prevent a certain beautiful girl from becoming a nun... though they didn't tell the priest who was serving the moleben that this was their reason for asking for it. I can't remember if they got the answer they wanted or not." 😂

Sigh. We are fortunate we have not noticed it here, but you are right if the online stuff isn’t contained it will become more of a problem in real life. The issue is most good people don’t engage online - which is absoluelty a good idea for their mental and spiritual health - but then what remains online creates a spiral that just gets worse and worse and I don’t know how this can be fixed :/

Orthobros, we need to have a real candid talk for a minute. We've been out here defending ourselves for a while against accusations of " Orthobro" behavior. We thought these guys were talking about us, and complaining about us. It's coming to our attention now that there's something going on that we weren't really properly aware of. I think we all knew this was kind of going on, but we didn't realize how extensive the problem actually is. We have a large number of anonymous accounts who play act as Orthodox Christians, but are anything but. Don't be too quick to react here, because I'm talking about a very specific thing I'm talking about the guys who go around saying horrible things, behaving in such a way that all of us would condemn and often do condemn when we see it. People out there are getting confused, because they see us pushing back against " orthobro" nonsense, and they think we're defending this behavior. But that's not what any of us are doing. I'm calling on all of us to have a serious look on this, and really crack down on these Anonymous accounts with Orthodox crosses in their names and bios. It is our duty as Orthodox Christians to guard the dignity and honor of the Orthodox Church, and she is the bride of Christ and she is precious. Let us not be slack in our duty.

@paisiosdavis @Tim_Andrews Certainly there are terminally online “men” who are highly autistic/socially awkward losers. Whether they are Orthodox Christians, Catechumen, or subversive not sure but likely a mix of the three. To my knowledge no public figure called an “orthobro” has been involved negatively.

If any member of clergy is naive& not-sufficiently online to think “orthobro” is just a made up slur against conservatives, I would strongly encourage them to subject themselves to Orthodox Twitter today, and see what all the “BasedOrthodoxGigachad☦️☦️☦️” accounts are posting :/

My bishop has in the past requested I take down two social media posts. He was right to do so. I’m open about who I am on social media ; my question is - would the anonymous “orthodox” accounts here be willing to have their bishop see their posts?
