@Boggememes This is similar to mine! My friends and I mostly had m10 basics, but one person found some Urza’s legacy ones (with full rules text in the box) and we thought they were broken because they tutored the m10 lands every time you tapped them!

I don’t think many realise how much ground they cede to the anti sci propagandists - those who claim “sci is just a pointless paper mill” - when they transmit the idea that their papers are of so little value or interest that they can’t be bothered to check or even read them 🤷🏽

Like, I genuinely find it offensive, the idea of reading something that the supposed author hasn't even read let alone written

what the hell are you talking about. YES YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO DO THIS
Ted Pavlic (he/him/his)@TedPavlic

@WKCosmo Co-authors may read an entire paper and still not take the time to check that every reference exists and is relevant to how it's being used. Doing so will usually mean *each/every co-author* will have to go to Google Scholar, do a search for each citation, and follow the result.

No, you are supposed to obsessively check everything line by line after any of your coauthors make any update to any of your papers. Major PIs will author more than 15 papers a year with several tens of coauthors. Now they are supposed to check everything line by line at every single update without failure rate. If the failure rate of any of this is 0.5-1%, a PI who publishes 15 papers a year or more will likely be banned in a few years at best

@RuxandraTeslo Better pay is mandatory. In Germany, you are usually getting paid a ~50-66% position. For doing 100% of the work. Less PhD admissions is also correct OR you provide the same amount of open positions in academia after the PhD. Most supervisors use PhD as cheap labour and then drop

Now I need to make a post about how Decker is wrong. I think academia would be far better off with less PhD students that were paid better. There are already too many PhDs!

The notion that grad students can't make ends meet is absolutely ridiculous to me. I live a mile away from Harvard. I am essentially a grad student with no stipend and no support. I'm making it work. Why can't they? The people who this screws are me -- marginal admits.

I am quite convinced that, under these arxive guidelines, every single major PI in the field will be banned within a few years

@andrewwhite01 Rightfully so. If you ask someone to make up references for you and don't even check if they exist, what dies it tell about your work? Integrity of science is important

@LucaAmb Using and LLM to do your research and not even bother to read over the text yourself isn't a slip. It completely wrecks the integrity of science.

A lifetime arxiv ban (arxiving after pubs is meaningless) can completely wreck someone career Doing that for a single slip unconsequential slip on an otherwise good paper is completely reckless Society is changing fast, we need to support people. Not punish them.
