NEWS: Tesla starts Cybercab employee rides at Giga Texas Tesla's robotaxi service in Austin, Dallas and Houston has run entirely on factory-built Model Y SUVs running Full Self-Driving. The purpose-built Cybercab has never carried a rider until now. The car has no steering wheel and no pedals. Video shows units 003 and 007 driving the factory campus autonomously. Giga Texas is the right proving ground. The factory is vast, so the Cybercab becomes real internal transport while Tesla gathers ride data. Cybercab has been in volume production since April. Over 100 units have been spotted at the factory. The fleet was built. The track was tested. Now the seats get filled. (Source: Tesla, July 10)

I did consumer research for the auto industry and everyone told me they would never use an autonomous vehicle. You are witnessing deep cultural change happening. And from a number of directions.

Matt Weilicki is an honest scientist who follows the data wherever it leads. That is what science is all about. He will lead our efforts to honestly present the empirical climate data to guide policy makers. Sadly, too much of the mainstream climate community has focused on a scary narrative that is inconsistent with actual climate data, leading so many astray like reporters at Politico. I welcome the new era where data, not rhetoric, is the arbiter of truth. Growing the government, increasing energy prices, and scaring children will no longer be the goal. Science will be the goal. So happy to have Matt in this role!

New Jersey Democratic state Senator Andrew Zwicker on a new bill requiring cameras plus two additional sensors (likely LiDAR & radar) for autonomous vehicles, which would effectively ban @Tesla robotaxis in the state if passed: "This is not anti-Tesla. I'm pro-New Jersey safety; At this point, I don't think the evidence is sufficient that a single sensor with software can handle situations that humans can," Zwicker said. Also, Uber argued that the state should continue requiring human drivers for most rides, a very anti-autonomous vehicle stance, despite the fact that data shows humans are worse drivers than autonomous vehicles....

Mike Rowe says he visited a Texas data center and met three “debt-free” electricians under 30 making “north of $240,000/year.” All three have been “poached” three times in the last 18 months because the demand for electricians is crazy high. ROWE: “I was in Plano, Texas… got a tour of a data center.” “I ran into three electricians, all under 30, all making north of 240 grand a year, all debt-free.” “Now here’s the craziest part. All three had been poached three times in the prior 18 months.” “The shortages are so acute that the companies don’t have time to train. They have to poach.” “Great news for an electrician. But it’s a little weird for the economy overall.”

Burgum ain’t telling the truth. Incredibly unlikely nuclear will ever be more affordable than wind. starnewsonline.com/story/news/env…
