Pilots of Twitter, can anyone explain to me why a pilot would choose to turn back 5.5 into a 10.5hr flight due to running out of domestic water instead of just carrying onwards to destination? Confused by the logic? @British_Airways @BoeingAirplanes maintenance issue? #Pilot

@criticalgassing @FrancesBoott I would argue this is not supported by the vast majority of intensivist, and as mentioned, is not in the interest of patient safety of training. Cutting off noses to spite faces, stop pointing the finger, both are part of this catastrophe.

@Resuspiece Absolutely tragic that this is being celebrated. Divorcing anaesthetics from involvement in itu is not in the interests of patient care, patient safety or training of doctors. Amazed that the @gmcuk is allowing this to happen tbh.

@mstotty88 Feel I can speak on this. Absolutely 100% agree with this Martyn! I have kids, one of whom is 2 months old atm and have just been placed in a hospital 2hrs drive from my house=nightmare for family/childcare. But my situation does not trump a single persons! I chose to have kids!

My life pleasures are work, gym and having fun with friends. It often gets assumed (and translated into real life) that because I chose not to have a family and children that my time off and commitments are somewhat less than those that chose otherwise. …

@iceman_ex This is what happens when you have a faculty that alienates its anaesthetic middle grade workforce…oh wait…

@Jeremy_Hunt Great effort and a great cause! 👏 Irrespective of political differences, i don’t see why people can take any issues with this post! Kudos @Jeremy_Hunt

20 miles today in 3 hrs 32 mins as part of my marathon training. Poppy managed the first part. Hyde Park looked glorious in the sunshine! I have just launched my JustGiving page. I am hoping to raise lots of money for the new Royal Surrey Cancer Centre: justgiving.com/page/jeremy-hu…

@Microbedoc2 It depends on the hospital. It has been taken as such by more than one department, appreciating that dual ICM/Anaesthetics is a 9 year training programme

If you have a dual CCT - and your individual programs should be 4 years each - 5 years combined does that mean that you are considered dual qualified to start at node 2 on consultant salary?

@Doctors_Vote To be honest, I respect him enormously for coming out and saying he made a mistake, there are far too many people out there who refuse to backpeddle on mistakes made, nobody is perfect.

A consultant-ready Dr in Neurosurgery earns the same salary as a PA straight from university 15 years of intensive study, post graduate exams, incredibly competitive competition, moving across the country, nights & weekends Vs 2 year simplified conversion course Strike hard

1/2 I disagree with you Carsten! Nobody is disputing the need for more investment in the economy - the central purpose of the Autumn Statement was to start to close the investment gap with Germany and France. From a low base, but look at how we’ve been doing since the pandemic...

Recently @Jeremy_Hunt and others said that Britain cannot borrow to invest more, alleging it would be hugely inflationary. But the numbers they cite just don't add up. The economy needs more, not less investment. My piece in today's @guardian on this 👇 theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Appears to be education issue atm over genuine concern about impact on patient safety with deregulation of medical practice, being confused with protectionism. At present patients are less protected than your pet by current set standards, this is an issue. rcvs.org.uk/setting-standa…
