@Acts17David Why are there tens of thousands of Protestant denominations if the Bible alone is so clear not needing Church authority???🙃🙃 The Orthodox Church was established by the Apostles and hence have the original teachings and history. See the difference?🤓

It's weird how they think the Bible is so hopelessly unclear and so thoroughly confusing that it can't be understood without a church telling you what it means. Why is the church so clear but the Bible so unclear?

This is stupid easy to discern. 5 patriarchs, 1 left 4 and the other 4 stayed in communion with each other and did not change theology or doctrine. Rome changed many teachings and doctrine and is in open violation of most ecumenical councils. Therefore orthodox is the true church.

Both the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church claim to be the 'one true Church' founded by Christ. They both trace themselves to the same apostles and Church Fathers up through the Great Schism of 1054 - yet they mutually anathematized each other and still do to this day. They can't both be right. If the evidence is essentially identical, doesn't that mean that the 'one true Church' claim fails for both? What’s the actual standard that decides this? I would argue that it's Scripture - and Scripture is what leads me to believe that both claims are false.

@homen2 @ChristandGuitar Christ established ONE Church and hence it is relevant. It's s Protestants who created denominations and ignore the clear dysfunction it caused.

@ChristandGuitar How can the evidence be identical?? The anathematization was over changes made. The Orthodox are clear that the Bishop of Rome claiming universal rule over the Church is an innovation as well as other doctrinal changes Rome made. Do deeper research if your intentions are honest.

If Jesus did 100% of the work needed to get you to heaven, how much work is left for you to do to get to heaven? 0%. That's why we call it His finished work. Trust in Him.

@GloryBe2YHWH @needGod_net We do not maintain salvation. We prove its existence by how we live (works). If we show no fruit it’s because we probably are not saved, but it does not save or keep us save, it’s only evidence that someone is saved.

@bannedpastor @orthomaton There are tonnes of Orthodox Baptism videos showing full immersion of adults and babies, but you choose an oddball occurance to present as standard by the Orthodox Church. Such dishonesty proves that you are not Christian by any measure, but a FRAUD!

It's ironic seeing the comments from Catholics & Orthodox relying on their obedience to get them to heaven and yet being disobedient in their behavior in how they treat others. Meanwhile, faith alone people are nicer and more obedient. It’s almost as if trusting fully in God’s grace actually transforms the heart.

@LizzieMarbach Given that thousands of Protestant denominations exist because persons read the same Bible and yet different interpretations, it's not surprising actually 😏 That's what happens when one is divorced from the Church and history and does their own thing.

@Allesontiire Church Fathers were directly discipled by the Apostles. They existed before the Scriptures. It was their succession that decided on which writings were and were not Scripture and compiled the Canon. The Bible is an Orthodox book in use by the Church long before Prots existed 😏

@AL_J82 Who are criticising Prots except Orthodox or Roman Catholic??🤔 Also are you implying the Church did violence to heretics before 1054?🤣 The Church simply excommunicated these at Council. Rome after 1054 turned to violence against the Orthodox 500 years before Prots existed.

People who criticize protestants and the reformation don't realize they benefit the most from it. They couldn't possibly say the things they say, believe what they believe and act the way they do today if they were under their church authority before 1054.

@LowStudies So the didache says that the norm is a river. Do you guys baptize in a river? The above video is not in a river? Shouldn't he be at a river? The Didache is clear- the particular medium (river, lake, baptismal, or pouring) of baptism is not as important as with the proper form.

@JohnCTokalenko @man_of_options I'm responding to this question you asked here since the coward Lizzie blocked me. The Church was underground due to persecution for the first 300 years until Constantine made Christianity legal. This is when the Church could now publicly organise matters universally.

My response: I’m not saying every man should practice polygyny or take multiple wives. What I am saying is that removing the option entirely, when God never did, has had unintended consequences. When men know they are limited to one woman for life, many of the men women most want to marry drag their feet. They delay commitment, sow their wild oats, and often avoid marriage altogether. But if the biblical model were restored, with three legitimate paths, celibacy, monogamy, or polygyny, I believe much of today’s hookup culture would naturally shift back toward marriage. A man would be far more likely to marry the woman whose virginity he took if he knew marriage did not permanently close the door to future options if God led that way. The VAST majority of men would never actually take more than one wife. But having the option matters. Take away the option, and many men hesitate to commit at all. You mentioned that polygyny was not the norm in ancient Israel. Where do you see that in Scripture? It was clearly common enough that God regulated it rather than condemning it. Abraham, Jacob, David, and MANY others practiced it, and God never Punished or even rebuked them for doing so. The fact that Paul said elders and deacons must be the husband of one wife strongly suggests that polygyny was happening in the first-century church. Otherwise, there would have been no reason to mention it. And I completely agree that marriage requires sacrifice. In fact, being married to two women would require significantly more sacrifice, leadership, and responsibility than being married to one. That alone is the reason most men would never choose it. People imagine polygyny is some endless sexual fantasy. In reality, it is more work, more responsibility, and more dying to self. If a man’s goal is simply sex, marriage is the last thing he should pursue. He would be better off doing what much of the world, and sadly many Christians, are already doing, rotating through partners every few months or years. Biblical polygyny is not about avoiding commitment. It is about expanding commitment.

@OnAncientPaths No one coming to Orthodoxyl Church should not be under any impression that racism is a thing there. There are patriarchates across multiple ethnicities. In fact, I think any racist would have an aversion to the Orthodox Church 🙂

I’ve been Orthodox for 13 years now. I’ve been at my current parish for three or four years and love it there. But as it grows, I felt a twinge of fear there for the first time today. I’ve been married for 20 years and my family is multiracial, and based mostly on things I’ve seen here, I begin to worry about those coming through the doors who may hate or wish harm to me or my family. The feeling didn’t last long, and I know social media is not real life. But the witness of those claiming to be Orthodox here still affects people, especially as more people are becoming exposed to the faith for this first time in such spaces.
