They did NOT live cheap. They had restaurants, with tablecloth and cloth napkins. Do NOT buy the revisionism that tells you the Boomers had a better life because they spent less money: THEY SIMPLY HAD MORE MONEY
Jim Sharp@prowrstlngstrng

I am not defending boomers, but they did generally live pretty cheap in their 20s Going out for coffee was insane. You threw Yuban into tiur Mr Coffe and put it in a thermos Eating out meant a trip to Pizza Hut maybe once a month Vacation was driving to a campsite

@anymanfitness When I was getting married, the priest asked me “how many peanut butter sandwiches can you eat“? He replied, as many as it takes. Things aren’t always going to be easy.

One of my staple lunches when I was a broke teacher in my 20's: - 2 cans of tuna packed in water - 2 tablespoons mayo - 2 slices American cheese - pickles - 5-6 saltines Ate this for years. The absolute entitlement of Zoomers will be the end of them.

Real Men Fix Shit Listen up, fellas. This is what being the man of the house actually looks like. Split 2x4? No problem. Rope, hammer handle, two nails, and some wire, and it’s stronger than before. No fancy clamps. No hardware store run. Just old-school American know-how and elbow grease. Real skills. Save it, practice it, teach your sons. Real men rig it and fix it. Drop a 🔥 if you’re built different.

@tinainvirginia Been here most of my 63 years. Rarely ever hit the oceanfront. When we wanted to go to the beach, it was Hatteras. That was a lifetime ago.

From Virginia Beach. This is spot on. “asked AI to roast Virginia Beach and thought I’d share the results 😉. Virginia Beach: the only place where you can experience the thrill of a military jet shattering your eardrums while you're stuck in traffic behind a Nissan Altima doing 45 mph in the left lane of I-264. If you’ve ever wanted to visit a beach city that feels like it was designed by a committee of strip-mall developers and retired Admirals, VB is your paradise. Here is a little breakdown of what makes it so uniquely frustrating: The "Oceanfront" vs. Reality You have the Oceanfront, which is basically just a 40-block tourist trap fueled by the smell of cheap sunscreen, funnel cakes, and regret. It’s where people from out of town go to buy a "Virginia is for Lovers" t-shirt and dodge teenagers on electronic rental bikes. But if you actually *live* there? You avoid the Oceanfront like the plague between May and September and pretend Chic's Beach is an exclusive, hidden oasis—even though you’re still just sitting in the sand looking at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. The Town Center Paradox Because the actual beachfront is a chaotic mess, the city decided to build a "downtown" from scratch a few miles inland. Enter Town Center: a hyper-sanitized, artificial cluster of chain restaurants and luxury apartments where people dress up like they're in Manhattan just to go to P.F. Chang's. It has all the organic charm of a freshly printed receipt. The True Local Culture * **The Jet Noise:** Locals call it "The Sound of Freedom." Everyone else calls it "I can't hear my own thoughts because an F/A-18 just buzzed my roof at 2:00 PM on a Tuesday." The Roads:** Northampton Boulevard and Indian River Road are less like thoroughfares and more like real-life games of *Frogger*, except the frogs are driving lifted pickup trucks with pristine, never-used truck beds. The "Seven Cities" Identity Crisis:** Nobody actually knows where Virginia Beach ends and Norfolk or Chesapeake begins, but everyone will aggressively defend their specific suburb as if it has a rich, distinct cultural heritage. Ultimately, Virginia Beach is a city that wants to be Miami, acts like a small military town, and is geographically mostly just a giant swamp with a really long boardwalk. But hey, at least the orange crushes are good.”

A lot of single men seem completely checked out of dating now, like they replaced romance with gym memberships, football, and pretending they’re happier alone.

According to the 75-page manifesto tied to the San Diego Islamic Center attack, here are the facts about the shooters based on their own words: They hated Jews. They also hated Islam. They were not trans, they were incels. They hated women. Their hatred for women was only surpassed by their hatred for Jews. They hated Black people. They hated all immigrants. They hated gay and trans people. They were not MAGA. They did not like Trump, and they did not identify with the right. They openly encouraged the left to take out Trump and JD Vance. How did we reach such an insane level of radicalization that literal kids are carrying out attacks and then taking their own lives afterward?

At 63, with kids in their 30s I can see both sides of this. My son makes a good amount of money, but house prices are insane. I don’t need my house to be worth $1 million, I’m never moving. I just want them to be able to afford something. And then I have my 24 year-old. And she believes that she should have everything that her mom and dad have.

Every time these conversations start we go in circles, but two things can be true: 1) It is harder financially to get ahead than it was for previous generations 2) Many young people have insane issues with overconsumption and it's become so normalized they don't even realize

@Thefactsdude Since when do we have to fly into a rage because someone got your order wrong? I’m sure that Ms. Grayson never ever made a mistake in her life. I really wish people were more kind to each other.

NEW: 75-year-old dies after physical fight with 20-year-old shift leader at Fort Wayne Tim Hortons On May 13, 2026, Anita Ann Grayson entered the Tim Hortons lobby on Ice Way/Lima Road in Fort Wayne to complain about her drive-thru order. She began berating a 17-year-old female employee. When 20-year-old shift leader August Horner intervened, Grayson struck her, sparking a physical fight in which both women fell to the ground. After the altercation was broken up, Grayson sat at a table, then lay on the floor and became unresponsive. The family and community are calling for justice for Grayson and for Tim Hortons to close its doors.

“Today in the United States there are only 188 US flaged merchant ships and 105 Navy @MSCSealift ships. WE NEED MORE THAN THAT In fact the Chinese have over 11,000 merchant ships,” said @SECNAV Hung Cao in today’s senate hearing. The days of the US Navy ignoring the US Merchant Marine and ocean logistics are over. “We need them to thrive as a nation,” He also provided clarity on @MSCSealift hulls ordered in foreign yards and said he will require that those overseas yards invest in the United States which will create 540,000 shipyard jobs for Americans.
