TV's James May urged me to bid on this Toyota Century. I wavered because there seemed to be a lot of interest and I assumed bidding would soar into the teens. But no. Someone got a bargain. And it wasn't me. Bah!

We’ve identified industrial-scale distillation attacks on our models by DeepSeek, Moonshot AI, and MiniMax. These labs created over 24,000 fraudulent accounts and generated over 16 million exchanges with Claude, extracting its capabilities to train and improve their own models.

@RSdriver00 @harrym_vids Wasn't so lucky in the Honda on the way back from Newcastle last week. Shallow standing water hid what must've been two bomb craters, refurbs to both O/S wheels now needed 👿

Had a meeting in the Potswolds - as @harrym_vids has now christened it. Terrible weather but decided to finish running in the 750S. In the typical McLaren way it coped so well with all types of roads and conditions and fortunately I managed to avoid any pothole damage.

This. The wiser engineers and technical managers are seeing the arrival of new, immensely powerful tooling and working out how to best use it. The unwise are seeing mirages and running towards them or panicking and running away
Scott Hanselman 🌮@shanselman

The Japanese are really good at woodworking. And I love watching the Yankee workshop, my dad makes Native American bows and arrows completely from scratch in his workshop with trees that he finds. This is all different from the stuff you get at IKEA, but I’ve been coding now for money for 35 years and systems are still complicated, computers still do dumb stuff, humans still do dumb stuff, this is just like the move from assembler to C, like the introduction of syntax highlighting, the introduction of intellisense, and the copy paste directly into production shift when stack overflow happened. There is value in good taste, there is value in craftsmanship, and there is value in human judgment. The furniture might be differently designed, but we’re still interior designers and putting together a cohesive system is non-trivial. Don’t let them gaslight you with one shot Minecraft clones and one shot C compilers. Software is still hard, it’s just that you’re no longer I/O bound with the speed of your fingertips I think that there will be lots of work for us cleaning up after the slop, but if you know what you’re doing AI augmented development is going to get you some amazing results and I am enjoying learning a ton during this momentous era shift - but the craft still exists

Nine years ago I lost my job after a robbery ruined the shop I worked for. Friday I bought my 997.1 GT3. Proud doesn't even come close to what I'm feeling.

Andrew puts it very well as always. If you’ve not yet subscribed to The Intercooler, now is a great time to start. 96% of those who subscribe and stay for a year, renew, so we must be doing something right and we always knew that great stories by the best writers would appeal

@Andrew_Frankel @stuartg917 @AstonMartinWork @Porsche Indeed I am! Splendid publication it is too, which seems to get better and better, hats off to your writing team. I fear though you have now taken my extremely non-serious question too seriously 😂 I'll be listening in if you decide to answer it just for yucks though 😊

@Andrew_Frankel @stuartg917 @AstonMartinWork @Porsche Please allow me to help with the following question, a shoo-in for Ask Intercooler this week: is the Cygnet just a Mondeo that's been punched in the mush then had a close shave with a car crusher? Please discuss

@ethanjweiss So what are you saying, that you conclude the diet high in saturated fat contributed to plaque progression for all the participants or only some of them? If the latter, isn't this an informative new result?

Imagine if someone designed a study in which they said: “we’re going to put you on a diet and then measure how much plaque progression you will have in a year on that diet. Oh and by the way, you’re going to have a substantial amount of plaque progression by the end of that year and so the primary aim of the study will actually be to figure out what factor (other than the diet) is causing that plaque to progress, not whether this diet you are on is associated with plaque progression” Imagine getting consent for that study. Imagine the ethical issues…

Are low-carb and ketogenic diets safe? Effective? Sustainable? A new peer-reviewed study that I am the lead author on just dismantled the most common myths, and the findings could change how we treat chronic disease. Here’s what you need to know 🧵👇 mdpi.com/2072-6643/17/6…

@davidfowl All apps are throwaway surely? And as a coder who started in the 70s (!!) the minute I laid hands on an LLM then why would I not leverage it to the max? Else let's shame anyone who can't write the raw hex machine code for their chosen CPU arch, sheesh

Correct. It’s painful and aspire has an opportunity to partially fix that by detecting Mac and allowing devs to opt to use directly installed things like ollama and whisper.cpp etc which would help the inner loop a lot. Things MacOS needs to catch up to windows: 1. Docker GPU acceleration. 2. Dock on every screen 3. Pins apps on every dock, otherwise only the stuff on that screen. 4. Keyboard shortcuts that make sense 5. Finder having cut and paste of files. (Without horrible remembering to cut at the destination) 6. A real archive (zip) tool. 7. A mouse scroll wheel support that works without a 3rd party app. 8. 3 x 4k per thunderbolt 5 dock But man, m4 max compiles 60% faster than a threadripper 20 core from 2 years ago. Oh and vs.net in parallels is faster than vs.net on intel.

Air Katakana
Air Katakana@airkatakana·
⚠️🚨PLEASE REPOST TO PUT US IN THE FUNNIEST TIMELINE🚨⚠️ I, Air Katakana, am officially announcing my intention to become the next United States Ambassador to South Korea. I have MORE experience fighting the corrupt South Korean system than any other American citizen, and I will be able to advocate for American interests better than any other citizen out there, bar none. As ambassador, I will FIGHT for the following: 1) US MILITARY ALLIANCE IS CONTINGENT ON SOUTH KOREA RESPECTING AMERICAN FREEDOMS. The South Korean government will NO LONGER be able to weaponize their DRACONIAN CRIMINAL DEFAMATION LAWS, or engage in any other lawfare against American citizens, and also expect US protection. The South Korean government will NO LONGER be able to extend the reach of their DRACONIAN CRIMINAL DEFAMATION LAWS to Americans overseas. 2) PROTECTION FOR AMERICAN SCIENTISTS AND ACADEMICS. American academics working in Korea will no longer be subject to the UNFAIR AND DISRESPECTFUL LAWFARE imposed on them by CORRUPT PUBLIC SERVANTS. South Korean institutions will NO LONGER PLAGARIZE OR VIOLATE THE COPYRIGHT of American scientific papers or inventions. 3) AMERICAN CITIZENS ARE TREATED FAIRLY UNDER SOUTH KOREAN LAW. No longer will American citizens be subject to UNFAIR INVESTIGATIONS OR PROSECUTION FOR POLITICAL PURPOSES. The United States embassy will closely monitor EVERY SINGLE CRIMINAL PROCEEDING IN SOUTH KOREA INVOLVING AN AMERICAN CITIZEN AND ENSURE THAT OUR CITIZENS ARE TREATED FAIRLY, something the sleepy Joe Biden administration didn't care to do! 4) SOUTH KOREA PAYS THEIR FAIR SHARE FOR AMERICAN PROTECTION. American taxpayers are spending WAY TOO MUCH defending a country that does not appreciate us. The ONLY reason South Korea exists is because of American defense, and they should PAY UP PROPORTIONAL TO THE AMOUNT THAT WE ARE HELPING THEM. TRUMP TRANSITION TEAM, MY DMS ARE OPEN, AND I HOPE THAT YOU EARNESTLY CONSIDER MY APPLICATION. ⚠️🚨PLEASE REPOST TO MAKE THIS REALITY🚨⚠️ @realDonaldTrump @JDVance
