Finally got around to writing a blogpost on flox. Faster groupby/binning/resampling/climatologies with @xarray_dev and/or @dask_dev described at xarray.dev/blog/flox See flox.readthedocs.io/en/latest/intr… for quick examples

@robmarkcole @dask_dev github.com/stac-utils/pys… and the example at nbviewer.org/gist/TomAugspu… go into this. My need for this kind of feature has lessened since we started providing STAC items as geoparquet for bulk queries (planetarycomputer.microsoft.com/docs/quickstar…).

Nerdy question: does anyone have experience of parallelising queries to a STAC API using @dask_dev or alternatives? 🛰️

@giswqs I really like that ability to get the STAC items from the map object. That's a nice combination of to go back and forth between code and the leafmap UI.

@ocefpaf Oh cool. We should be able to get something similar for static images with the Planetary Computer data & APIs. planetarycomputer.microsoft.com/api/data/v1/it… is one of those IR bands. I'll mess with the parameters to see if we can generate something similar to their night scenes.

@danrothenberg @aravindEO Just in case you haven't seen it, #Climate/Weather" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">planetarycomputer.microsoft.com/catalog#Climat… :) I think "ARCO" is a bit underdefined, but we're doing basics like cloud-optimization (& mb kerchunk) Maybe you specifically had @al_merose's ERA5 dataset in mind? When I have time I'll be revisting our ERA5 pipeline.

@aravindEO Certainly something of an endorsement for Azure’s HPC faculties. Still disappointing to see lack of commitment to generating and publishing ARCO weather/climate datasets, which would be a real catalyst for cross-sector innovation.
