@giswqs I edited my post to make it clearer that the Planetary Computer carries on, just without me :)

Say news! The Planetary Computer team has been laid off by Microsoft 🥹 Really sad to see the invaluable PC JupyterHub and Data Catalog going away 😭 If your team is looking for taleted people to work on #geospatial projects, please reach out to @TomAugspurger tomaugspurger.net/posts/leaving-…

Some personal news: I'm looking for a job! tomaugspurger.net/posts/leaving-… Some of my (very talented) former teammates are also looking for a job, so reach out if you're hiring!

@TEGNicholasCode Nope, it's still going! And hopefully Gustavo & others will still be around for Zarr / VirtualZarr stuff, but they'll be spread a bit thinner now :)

@TomAugspurger Sorry to hear this! Does this mean that the data part of Planetary Computer is also being retired?

@zooba Thanks! We were just starting on the next wave of security stuff :) It was great to call you a colleague, but now we'll go back to being colleagues in open source, hopefully.

@TomAugspurger Sorry to hear we've lost you and your team (especially after you probably only just got all the security stuff figured out!). Best of luck with whatever comes next!

@TomAugspurger I am very sorry to hear this, Tom! Thank you for all you did for Planetary Computer! It has been invaluable for the #geospatial community. Very sad to see it being discontinued by Microsoft. What a loss 😭

Nerdy question: does anyone have experience of parallelising queries to a STAC API using @dask_dev or alternatives? 🛰️

@giswqs I really like that ability to get the STAC items from the map object. That's a nice combination of to go back and forth between code and the leafmap UI.

@danrothenberg @aravindEO Just in case you haven't seen it, #Climate/Weather" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">planetarycomputer.microsoft.com/catalog#Climat… :) I think "ARCO" is a bit underdefined, but we're doing basics like cloud-optimization (& mb kerchunk) Maybe you specifically had @al_merose's ERA5 dataset in mind? When I have time I'll be revisting our ERA5 pipeline.

@aravindEO Certainly something of an endorsement for Azure’s HPC faculties. Still disappointing to see lack of commitment to generating and publishing ARCO weather/climate datasets, which would be a real catalyst for cross-sector innovation.

@psyfico The original PR / issue might have had some discussion on that, but my only use case was duplicate labels.

@TomAugspurger, do/did you plan to extend the flag attribute to other functions than allows_duplicate_labels?
