@ryanjaycowan About V2L, are you saying MY Performance in AU and NZ doesn’t have this feature?
English

@ryanjaycowan Congrats Ryan, you could tell by the video it was 'when' not 'if' :-)
English

@TomLast The one I test drove in Mulgrave did. Let Tesla know immediately.
English

@sandroidrs2 @ryanjaycowan You got in an MYP and he got in his Diesel Ute, I think we know who won if it’s about winning. Wise move, it’s rarely worth a confrontation.
English

@ryanjaycowan You got in your car and left without saying a word. Obviously you let him win.
Surely if he sees you again, he will confront you again, because you have already shown weakness before

I get a lot of Tesla-hate comments online with my videos, but rarely in person. Tonight was different...
At the local car wash, an old bloke in a diesel ute told me to "get a life" when he saw me filming the Model Y Performance. I told him "this is my job". He responded by saying "it's not your job, you don't have a job, get in your toy car and fuck off"
He was so angry at this point, I did in fact get in my car and drive away without saying a word. I tried to have empathy for him .. 'his life must be shit', 'he doesnt understand why I'm filming', 'he doesnt understand EVs'
Although I was rattled, I decided to not let him win and get straight back to filming content that helps thousands of people switch to Teslas. Here is the photo I took right before:

@ryanjaycowan Yeah, seems it a known issue with the performance pads. My previous Highland M3P didn't have performance pads and was silent.
English

@ryanjaycowan I have a ultra red with white interior MYP with FSD but as I’m in the UK I’m missing out on a big chunk of the functionality my car has, hopefully 2026 is the year for us !!!

English

There was something very special about driving the new Model Y Performance; having it do 95% of the driving for me (very comfortably) with FSD, then disengaging the system and letting it rip. It's crazy that those 2 things can exist in the same car.
Soon enough (in my lifetime) cars like this won't be made. It will all be about autonomy, understandably. But this is a car where the 'best' of both worlds exists... exhilarating manual driving, and self driving.

English

@ryanjaycowan @farzyness I suspect its an insurance cost issue, supervised you are liable. Unsupervised Tesla is liable.
English

Why would Tesla offer a 'Supervised' version for less when they have solved Unsupervised? ..."We're going to make you pay (albeit less) to look at the road even though the car doesn't need you to and you're redundant" ... @farzyness ?
AirBreather1980@AirBreather1980
@SawyerMerritt @ryanjaycowan imo there will be tiers, anyone who bought it <feb14 gets top tier. top tier = unsupervised incl. other tiers = supervised only unsupervised $99 -> $499 supervised premium $99 supervised basic $99 -> $69 something like that, fulfills comp plan

I am disappointed by Wheels' review of the Tesla Model Y in their “2025 Wheels Car of the Year” competition.
FIRSTLY, they claim: “The lack of a driver's display, head-up display or gauge cluster of any kind, is a deal breaker in the eyes of the judging team.” I can understand this, as the judges aren’t used to Tesla’s design, glancing at the top right corner of the screen for speed, but after driving a Tesla for over a year, it is just as effective as a centre cluster.
SECONDLY, they describe the touchscreen gear selector as “neither intuitive nor easy to decipher” and label it “stupid, silly, nonsensical & unnecessary.” Were they not educated on AutoShift and Shift Out of Park?
In my experience, having the gear selector on the screen makes no difference, as you rarely need to touch it: just tap the brake to shift out of park, and tap the brake while turning the wheel to change gears when necessary.
While the Tesla model Y did not make it out of the first round being beat by cars like the Kia EV3 I’m not only disappointed in the model wise result but also what feels like biased reporting.
Do better, Wheels Magazine.
