Pilots need technology – called ADS-B In – that will allow them to see other aircraft to prevent accidents like what happened over the Potomac. The NTSB recommends it. Last week the @UnitedPilots Council 12 held a Family Awareness event for our @ALPAPilots and their families to come out and enjoy an evening of unity and socialization. We had over 100 people turn out! Thank you for spending your time with us!

@SteveNomadic We are putting 20,000 Spirit pilots in class alongside 2,000 military aviators. The market drives the demand and our goal is to hire the best people that we can to fly our customers.

In 2012 I was applying to all the big US majors. I had over 13,000 hours, 5 type ratings and 7 years in the left seat of an MD-80. Couldn’t get an interview. In 2020 United was hiring 23 year olds with 2000 hours total time and 6 months in the right seat of an RJ into the left seat of a 737. There are some inexperienced pilots flying at the Majors - but that’s because of industry cycles - not DEI.

@SteveNomadic Under the new contract you need 500 hours in type and then have to complete another long term training event to go to the left seat. New hires were awarded captain, but lost their award via vacancy bid to more senior pilots. But you are right about how hiring is cyclical
