This is such an unfair take, he can't be responsible for everyone's health and he does other great things too, like preserving 55,000 acres of nature so that it can stay pristine. That's a high virtue high value thing that Tim is doing. I think it's of incredible worth and a very high priority for humanity. He's also working with the brain guy now that it's been brought to his attention. You know damn well he didn't look at all 1000 people and make the decision, there's too many people for it to have been personal. I bet other managers made the decision anyway, if it wasn't automated.

@gabefollower I think having AI non-story interactable NPCs will definitely be the future for open world games. It's just a matter of time until a major studio does it well.

In the latest MinnMax podcast, Valve's writer Erik Wolpaw shared his opinion on AI in games. He views AI as a tool for "social chaos", rather than as a replacement for human creativity. Although he is sceptical about its humour, he is excited about NPCs that react to players in real time, turning conversation into a true gameplay "verb". "I'm currently not worried about AI taking over creative writing because it is pretty bad at it. And I'm not just saying that defensively. Like, we've really been messing around with it. I don't think it's going to be anytime soon writing novels that are better than human. Typically, the verbs in games are pretty limited... But we've actually reached the point now where it can just be the verbs are actual verbs of you just saying things and seeing what happens. And again, kinda preface all this with there, it's all amazing that any of this works to me at all, but they're so much worse than real actors."

Tim Sweeney has stated this in terms of the future for Fortnite: What we now need to do is clear: build awesome Fortnite experiences with fresh seasonal content, gameplay, story, and live events; accelerate developer tools with greater stability and capability as we evolve from Unreal Engine 5 and UEFN to Unreal Engine 6. The CS2 reloading update completely changes a core mechanic at the heart of the game for the last 27 years. I think the best mentality is to adapt to this change, and figure out how to use it to destroy my opponents in battle. The game is not ruined, but it is different.

Fun fact: the "reverse ammo as clips" parameter has been in the engine since 21 June 2024, almost two years ago. So either the CS2 developers planned this change a long time ago, or it might also be used in other games? Found by @dirtkiller23

@gabefollower I don´t like this change all that much but I am glad they are at least changing something, they´ve been taking it too safe for a while now.

Counter-Strike developers have just released one of the biggest updates to the meta. Now, if you reload your weapon while there is still ammo in the magazine, the ammo disappears instead of being returned to your reserves. They have also increased (and decreased) the number of bullets for some weapons. The CZ-75, for example, now has 36 bullets instead of 24.

I'm not on the abort train..... I haven't come to my own conclusion on that situation yet but at this point I think it was 100% intentional
