? Most moderately well-to-do people donate to local charities; have you never noticed? Never visited a museum, a local concert? Names of patrons are usually listed. Virtually alone among affluent nations the US only minimally supports the arts. private donors keep them going.

@JoyceCarolOates Apparently when you’re rich you can mock anyone about anything, including terminal illness and life-threatening cancer. Being rich insulates you, elevates you in your own mind above empathy and sympathy, lets you laugh at other’s misfortunes. I’m glad I’m not rich.
