The Astros are 1-3 since the Joe Espada “play with urgency” interview. This guy couldn’t motivate a dying man to live, and I’m supposed to expect him to lead a Major League Baseball team?

@DDelgattoNFL Agreed. Him trying to manage this mess isn’t going to show anything and it’s really not fair to grade him on it. Everyone wanted Joe to take over for Dusty and here we are…

I'm all for Omar Lopez getting a go, but I know our fan base. The team will struggle still because of injuries and bad roster construction, and then the fans will call for his job as well Omar Lopez deserves a clean slate if he gets that role. Just my opinion

@JON_GUERRA9 You shouldn’t worry about Joe or Dana. Both are gone after the season regardless. Both contracts expire and they weren’t extended for a reason.

This is by far the worst weekend for Astros fans. If we lose the series, we get to hear fucking Rangers fans. If we win the series Joe espada secured his job for another 2 months.

#Astros are unwatchable! They rarely hit starting pitching, almost never get a clutch hit, seldom hit HRs in a bandbox stadium, starting pitching is atrocious! Backend of pen stinks. And Espada waits a batter too long to pull pitchers i.e. Burrows to gag last night's high. Blah!

@Matthew_Gaskin With the lockout coming and both on the final year of their deals I have a feeling Jim will just let them play it out.

Do they fire Espada and/or Dana before the Rangers series or right before they hit the road again? Not saying either move will be made any time soon, but we know it will be.

@ericpgirard No…the pitching machine is still working (look at Peter Lambert) but it can’t fix anyone and all Dana did was bring in projects. Some that seem unfixable.

Was ex-#Astros co-pitching coach Bill Murphy the REAL brains of the Stros lab known for fixing pitchers, not having a staff w a 5.80 ERA? Murph's now the Bucs pitching coach who's ERA is 3.75, 8th best. Pirates manager Don Kelly was recently a Astros coach. Did he know something?

@tls1019 Opener is such a bad term that gets thrown around. What does it even mean? Usually an opener goes once through the order tops. That’s not what is happening here. You don’t have to agree with it, that’s not the point of this post. But it is what is happening so…

@TopherT613 Teng has gone 5 innings twice in his career. Most ever was 5.1. This isn’t like a Brad peacock move into the rotation where he actually could go 5-6 fairly consistently. It looks like he’s going to be at best an opener that goes 3-4 consistently.
