@robsalerno @RM_Transit There’s already a capacity issue at union station with the existing go and via traffic. Go transit is pushing through eventually sub 15 min service on the lakeshore so there would definitely be no room for additional trains.

@RM_Transit I understand that Montreal's tracks are a problem because they don't run through the city, but why on earth would they need a new tunnel in Toronto?

It seems Alto might be building huge tunnels to get into Toronto and Montreal, feels totally unnecessary and not the pragmatic way to actually get us high speed rail instead of creating another HS2 / CAHSR

@SpaceThompson @HardingRay @KelseyTuoc Well they certainly have turned a runaway conservative majority into what will be a very close race. Anything but a majority will result in a lib/ndp coalition for sure.

I'm confused about the 'Canada as 51st state' thing because, if they succeeded, they'd be adding 40million new citizens who overwhelmingly hate Trump and hate MAGA, flipping the House and Senate. Right?

@JasminLaine_ @GovRonDeSantis I canceled my trip. Went to Costa Rica instead. Had 3 trips to U.S. planned this year too. I met quite a few Canadians who did the same down there. Not a liberal either just love my country and don’t like threats.

@GovRonDeSantis You have no idea how excited I was to fly to Florida and go to universal, hoping the lines might be shorter if so many Canadians are “cancelling” turns out, it’s just another media psyop.

We frequently hear about different threats to boycott Florida and yet our tourism numbers continue to grow year after year… I doubt this time will be any different.

@venaodiver @EdKrassen Yes you can be selective but so can the other country when it comes to retaliatory tariffs. If you put tariffs on finished goods like vehicles, Mexico or Canada can put tariffs on things that will hurt the u.s economy too like vegetables, aluminum, or oil.

Ok - misinformation as it’s best. You can choose to bring tariffs on finished products whereas the value was created with resources and labor abroad. These products can and will compete with local production. Nobody will put tariff on avocado or other vegetables. But finished cars without value chain in the US for instance - they will be more expensive to sell in the US. You know that you can be selective?

BREAKING: Trump is imposing a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico starting Feb 1. Canada supplies the U.S. with key goods like maple syrup, lumber, aluminum, oil, and paper products, while Mexico is a major source of fresh produce, dairy, cars, and medicines. The result? Expect higher prices at the grocery store, gas pump, and hardware store. Cars, appliances, and even homes will cost more as building materials like lumber and aluminum skyrocket. Tariffs don’t punish other countries—they hit American consumers the hardest. Families will pay more for essentials while inflation is already a concern. This reckless move will hurt your wallet, not theirs.

This is how insane and upside down literally EVERYTHING has a become - The PM is under oath, and one would think compelled to tell the truth, but many are saying he's "lying". Do these folks understand what being "Under Oath" means? The gravity and seriousness of it all?

Daryl Fridhandler has been a Liberal cheerleader in this party dead zone since I was a rookie political columnist in Calgary. Smart guy but undoubtedly a partisan appointment. And hardly representative of Albertan thinking. apple.news/AD4w1dYxuSZ2nB…

@MrJoeSteel @NervousNeander1 @TheFungi669 America is a Republic, not a democracy. It’s a very important difference. The majority is not always right and needs checks in place to keep them from completely imposing their will on the rest of the country.

@NervousNeander1 @TheFungi669 There's no reason why the more populous States shouldn't railroad the less populous States. They have more voters. That's an important point in a democracy.

@weir_robert @David_Moscrop Have you ever seen an agreement where the union hasn't git what they demand? Neither have I. It is a one sided bargaining with the union being the bully. It's time things changed.

The Supreme Court has recognized collective bargaining as protected by the Constitution. I hope the Teamsters drag out as many challenges as possible to protect this right. Don't give an inch. If industry doesn't like it, they can tell the rail companies to offer a better deal.

@David_Moscrop @OdysseusCA I will ask a question. If it's about safety, what changes are the employees looking for that is disagreeable? It can't be about money as they already make 150,000/yr as an engineer and $121,000 as a conductor, working approx 160 days/year.

@queergranddad @PierrePoilievre @aaronhoyland PP also says he will close safe injection sites but forgets the Supreme Court rulling in 2011 when he was IN GOVERNMENT that ruled that unconstitutional. He doesn't care for the courts unless they side with him.

The only thing @PierrePoilievre brings home is propaganda. Check out the excellent response from @aaronhoyland. The professional college is not the state. Using this language is disingenuous and is purposely crafted to undermine the state. This demonstrates how unfit for leadership Poilievre is.

@JohnWing5 I truly think you’re scared to believe that intelligent and reasonable people are voting conservative next election. You want to think it’s this far right Canadian MAGA mob. I voted for Trudeau in 2015, Trudeau has lost the moderates. We need a change in government.

@ACHFraser @NoahGairn @TheTorontoSun What has the government done since 2015 for procurement until last year’s announcements? Expensive CF-188, CP-140, and CH-146 upgrades for a few years of usability due to horrendous procurement timelines. 2 VIP CC-144, CC-295 with major IOC issues. Army has been all but forgotten

@ACHFraser @NoahGairn @TheTorontoSun Who purchased the C-177’s, C-130j’s, ch-148 cyclones, chinooks, leopard 2 tanks, TAPV’s, MILCOTS, AHSVS, mine clearing vehicles, M777 howitzers? If you look at the last 20 years, most army and Air Force equipment procurement happened under Harper with that 1%. Capability > Cost

@ChrisPa53223368 @IMAO_ @RecompenseofGod You’re talking about a normal environment, not a movie set. They literally have people on set to take on the responsibility for the weapon and its contents. Most people in real life don’t have their own personal armorer in which case rules like the ones you posted apply.
