I’m amazed that there is a whole swath of people that still pay 1% for a financial advisor. It takes 2-3 @Vanguard_Group ETFs to do it yourself and saves you immensely on fees. DIY takes maybe 3-4 hours a year to do vs paying 1% vig every year to a FA.

@Jack0fAllTradz @DrDominicNg I disagree with the second part of your statement. No one with a higher IQ than a brick believes that a father’s role can be removed.

@TradeTheSpread @DrDominicNg What are you talking about? Mothers get all the credit for raising children. Father antics are seen as childish things that can be removed from a child's life with no consequences even though they're critical to the child's development.

Unlike mothers, fathers tend to make children laugh by surprising them, breaking social rules, and making sudden funny noises. This playful destabilisation in a safe context is linked to a stronger sense of attachment security.

I have no hate or grievance. I have an appreciation for what my teammate does to ensure that the unit is successful. And I am not arrogant enough to assume I am accomplishing it all on my own nor ignorant enough eschew the work of others. And I can tell you with utmost certainty that the lion’s share of providing for my children is done by her all whilst working herself (morning routine, lunches, drop off, cooking,cleaning,laundry,etc.). For the most part I provide money, play, physical activity, and act as a back up for all of the roles above). I do not diminish my value, but I am certainly aware of the immense work that must be done in order for me to be able to provide that value.

@TradeTheSpread @DrDominicNg I'm sorry you abnegate your own value and half of society based on a philosophy of hate and grievance. That you spread such ideas over the internet is everyone's problem.

@readwithai @DrDominicNg I’m sorry you don’t appreciate all the work others do to help you succeed, but that’s not really my problem. Maybe tell your therapist about it.

There are a few people for whom BMI doesn't indicate obesity. Very few. Comparing BMI to body fat-based assessments, there's >98% agreement, with 97% for men and 99.9% for women. BMI works well at the population level!

I don’t disagree but I think it is a challenging time commitment. I think people should focus on understanding their base line step count and trying to improve that by 10-20% at a clip. It can be done through basic every day activities like taking the stairs instead of the escalator/elevator. I also think once you’ve achieved a baseline of 7-8k steps per day, your focus should pivot to fitness activities like weight lifting and other higher intensity cardio activities. Especially as these will deliver maximal results in a much shorter timeframe per day.

@TradeTheSpread @sekitsuii oh okay so this is where we diverge. some people refer to brisk walk as normal walk etc, and you’re taking it very literally. i believe more should walk this much and that’s what op wants.

2 things. 1. Major props to you for trying to improve your life via walking. IMO It is one of the single best steps an obese person can take to improve their quality of life. Well done. 2. 4mph would be a speed at which you are deliberately doing a brisk walk, it is by no means a casual walking speed. OP is attempting to diminish the value of getting 10k steps a day as a feat so easy that they are baffled that others do not achieve it.

@bedsux @sekitsuii Average stride length is around 2.5ft. Even in the right tail it extends to 3.5 feet. So you’re absolutely correct whilst still being incorrect in your conclusion. An incredible feat only accomplished by the most sophisticated of imbeciles. Bravo!

@CorbinSmithNFL Corbin, I’m always defending you but this is a bad take. Flat taxes are regressive & disproportionately effect low/middle income earners. A progressive tax system is not only a necessity, but fair. If you reap more benefits from the system, you should pay more into the system.

I have a really dumb question: Why can't we just have a flat tax rate for every person? And get rid of the stupid deductions, etc? Just have everyone pay the same rate in the U.S.? It would save us from so many damn problems. And all these idiotic arguments.

@dampedspring Jane is hyper aware of what constitutes market manipulation. They are experts at playing in the gray area and getting right up to that line. So they are very unlikely to do something provably illegal, but they are quite comfortable being unethical IMO

Market manipulation is illegal across almost all markets and across almost all countries. If the intent is manipulation it is almost certainly illegal. Jane Street may be manipulating markets or may not be. Jane Street knows what market manipulation is and its consequences and risks of prosecution. they aren't stupid. Idiots on Twitter don't have a clue on what Jane Street does or does not do. Market manipulation should be prosecuted and punished My firm did it in 1991, while most at the firm were unaware and innocent, the firm was massively and appropriately punished.

@AndrewYang Bc politics is a giant game for elected reps to get rich. If they clap for the other side they risk being ostracized by their own party. That hurts their chances of reelection and thus hurts their wallet. They don’t care about the electorate, they care about money.
