After watching the Big Short, I read up on Jamie Mai's initial strategy in Hedge fund Market wizards and turned $5k into $150k in 2 years mostly trading LEAPS. I then got a job at a large bank that didn't permit options trading. So I didn't touch options for 3 and a half years. Fast forward to 2024 when I changed jobs, I got back into it, but this time I tried short term swing trading and 0DTE. Lost it all and now am down $100K. Just put $10K into an account and going back to LEAPS only.

Thank yall for 400 followers. Sorry I took a 2 week break before, I’m back to posting consistently and properly. The support means a lot, my goal was to get 364 followers by the end of the year. We smashed that in 3 months. So let’s see how far we can get the skys the limit.

@RangeTrader_ Simplicity is key. One chart, one pair, one strategy. You can't form an edge if you're trying to attempt everything at once. Master one and then move on to the next goal; that's how you beat the 95%.

Talked to a trader last month who quit his job to trade full time. He had $400k in prop firm capital. Was making $8-12k/month in payouts. Seemed like he had it figured out. Then he told me he was about to lose everything. 'I increased my risk from 0.5% to 1% per trade because I wanted to scale faster. Went through a drawdown. Lost $250k in funding in 3 weeks.' 1% risk per trade might not sound too bad - but he was taking 3-5 trades every day on the lower timeframes, and was copying his trades across all his funded accounts. He was desperate to make more money. So he doubled his risk. Didn't change anything else. Just doubled the risk. Bad month + higher risk = account wipeout. He went from 8 funded accounts to 3. From $12k/month to $2k/month. All because he got greedy. Here's what he should've done instead: Kept risk at 0.5%. Passed MORE challenges. Scaled to $600k or $800k in funding. Then even at 0.5% risk and 2-3% monthly returns… He'd be making $15-20k/month. Safely. Without blowing accounts. But instead he tried to force it. And lost most of what he built. If you want to scale your income with prop firms: Don't increase your risk. Increase your capital. Pass more challenges. Add more accounts. Keep low-risk across all of them. That's how you scale without blowing up.

After 9 years of trading I realized 90% of what I studied was a complete waste of time. Spent one year backtesting and forward-testing for 8 hours a day and made more progress in the previous 9 years combined. I’m profitable now and did $27k in profit last month.

Don’t try to learn and master every strategy in the industry. Pick one and marry it. Mr A posts a win trade from CRK strategy, you want to learn it Mr B posts a win trade from PVC model, you message him to teach you. Mr C calls a trade live from MTN strategy and you still want to learn it Stop that behavior, this is 2026.

@MaxFx_28 Honestly, it varies person to person. For me, I have an edge, its exicuting it thats the hard part, I fixed a lot about myself. I need to just work on risk management and psychology.

Stuff I struggle with even 2 years into my journey: Honestly, I've improved so much since the start of my journey. I'm nowhere near who I was before as a trader. But I still struggle with 2 main things, and I aim to get rid of them by the end of April. 1. Poor risk management: I let my losers run too long because I get married to a bias. 2. Not waiting for setups: It's really stupid to admit that even 2 years on, I struggle with FOMO. Trading is a triad of 3 skills: risk management, psychology, and strategy. I've mastered strategy and nearly mastered the other two. But the issue with the triad is that they work synergistically together. If you're missing one, you're missing out on profitability. This final month of improvement will hopefully cement my edge permanently.

High win rate doesn’t mean high profitability. And a low win rate doesn’t mean you’re failing. A lot of traders focus on being right more often. They chase 70–80% win rates. But ignore what actually matters. Risk and reward. You can win most of your trades and still lose money if your losses are bigger than your wins. You can win less often and still be profitable if your winners are larger. That’s the shift. Professional traders don’t focus on accuracy. They focus on controlling losses and letting winners pay for them. Because profitability doesn’t come from being right. It comes from how you manage risk. When you review your trades are you tracking win rate, or risk vs reward?
