Armed Robbery Turns Violent on Chicago Sidewalk, Woman Shot A 28-year-old woman was shot and robbed Monday night in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on Chicago’s Northwest Side, according to police. The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. in the 5700 block of West Diversey Avenue, where an armed suspect approached the victim while she was walking on the sidewalk. Authorities said the offender pulled out a firearm, demanded the woman’s belongings, and then struck her with the weapon before opening fire. The victim was hit in the buttocks and ankle and was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in fair condition.
