Truly amazing how many posts and comments I received alleging that journalists were not in the room with @IsraeliPM @netanyahu. Not only was he and his top advisors in the room, Netanyahu was a man on a mission, blending historical perspective with present purpose. It was a privilege to be there.

It is much worse than this. When Bennett became Prime Minister, he did so with the backing of six mandates out of 120 in the Knesset. Literally 95% of the country voted for somebody else. The six seats Bennett received were from right-wing voters that expected him to sit in a coalition gov’t with Netanyahu. Further, just before elections, Bennett went onto national TV and read from a printed paper during the evening news, stating that he would absolutely not enter into a rotation arrangement with Yair Lapid to become Prime Minister. He then signed the paper on live TV and held it up to the cameras. He also said separately that it would be undemocratic to become PM with less than 10 mandates. On his own, Bennett could never have become PM. In fact, Netanyahu won that a election by a landslide. The Likud received 30 seats, with Lapid’s Yesh Atid party in distant second with only 17 seats. But the parliamentarians, including Bennett, colluded to prevent Netanyahu from forming a 61-seat coalition. The mandate then passed to Lapid who had zero chance to form a coalition. So he essentially bribed Bennett to defect from the right-wing camp by offering him to become prime minister, despite his extremely poor electoral showing. This is how desperate Lapid and the left were to remove Netanyahu from office. It was one of the worst affronts, in a long string, to Israel’s democracy and the will of the voters, who fall prey to left-wing anti-democratic maneuvers. He was extremely outclassed as prime minister, which is why his mandate-less gov’t collapsed in less than one year. When his govt collapsed, Lapid temporarily became PM as part of their sordid rotation agreement. As a transitional PM with limited authority, Lapid gave away a major NatGas field in disputed waters to Lebanon. He told us that doing so would avert a war with Hezbollah. Of course the left-wing court did not stop him. Neither did Bennett. Bennett will never receive any more votes from the right-wing voters, who see him as a usurper of their votes. It is extremely difficult to calculate the damage and the opportunity cost of his undemocratic ascension to the prime minister’s chair. It is highly unlikely that he will ever receive another opportunity.

He doesn’t like Bibi and he’s not popular in Israel! To say I’m disappointed in the joint statement by leaders from France, Germany and the UK regarding Operation Epic Fury is an understatement. It is so sad to see western democracies lose their passion for justice and a sense of right and wrong the further away from their shores the event occurs. Everyone in Europe is rightly impassioned about Russia invading Ukraine. But when it comes to the long suffering people of Iran, Europe has been pathetic. To the leaders of France, Germany and the UK: the Iranian people are not wrong to demand the end to their oppression from the bloodthirsty ayatollah’s regime that has American and European blood on their hands. You collectively are the ones that are wrong by refusing to come to the Iranian people’s aid and adding insult to injury, you’re suggesting we should continue to negotiate with religious Nazis.
