One of these trains does visual identity of a British transport institution really well. The other is a mess.
We don't need the flag to prescribe the British rail identity. We just need the Double Arrow, the colour palette, and good typography.
That's it.

Today @LumoTravel operated a pre-launch special from Stirling to Euston and back today using 222601 (ex EMR 222001). The first out and back passenger service starts on Monday, ramping up to the full timetable of five trains a day by late July

@awesome_buses Southern has the longest lasting liveries since privatisation, Other than extra logos on newer sets and the upgrade of the logo itself, The whole livery has not been touched since introduced in late 90s/early 00s. Outlasted all over TOC liveries who came before it.

With the new GBR livery now rolling out, I suppose it's time to make most of the existing liveries. Including the fantastic Southern livery, which has been applied to trains for what feels like forever now!

It's more than a new look. We're making big changes.
In the first 100 days of nationalisation passengers in the south east will see more services, fewer delays and cleaner carriages.
Under this government our trains serve passengers, not shareholders.

@pacer142 What I will say is that this is a total design system. It drops the flag concepts in favour of a cohesive logo, colour palette and typography, which can apply to every visual touch point to help a low-cost planned roll-out, and help increase accessibility. 1/2

@TrainRealm @welsh_pain even this is slightly too much in my opinion, should be simple and minimalist, honestly even GBR is too much should be just British Rail or British Railway, even National Rail would suffice.

GB News livery, Reform livery... If your only course of action upon seeing the new GBR branding is to project and associate it with their views, then all that's doing is letting them win, imo
They don't own or control the Union Jack, it's been around since 1801, it's all of ours
