Today is Metastatic Breast Cancer Day. It's the only form of breast cancer that kills, and yet it's only given one day of recognition, even in Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For those of us living with MBC, there's no finish line, no ringing of bells, just treatment after treatment, hope after hope. We live in a cycle of scans, results, and uncertainty, but we also live with fierce determination to be seen, heard and understood. Today, I'll be standing outside Parliament with @METUPUKorg in a peaceful demonstration for the 31 women who die every single day from metastatic breast cancer here in the UK. We stand for them and for everyone still waiting for access to the life-extending drugs that could give us more time and real change to those of us living with this disease Time to live, to love, to be here. Today, please take a moment to remember us, support us, and help make our voices heard. #MetastaticBreastCancerDay #MBCDay #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #Stage4NeedsMore #metupuk #MetastaticBreastCancer #SecondaryBreastCancer #MBC #SBC #livingwithcancer #lifewithcancer @AshleyDalton_MP @NICEComms

This October, instead of buying “pink-washed” products that do little for research, support METAvivor. Your donations directly fund metastatic research—the only kind that can change these odds for everyone with breast cancer. METAvivor: until no one dies from MBC

While the world turns pink, METAvivor is raising our voices in green, teal, and pink to demand MORE for Stage IV. Only 13% of breast cancer research funds go toward MBC. 117 people will die from MBC every day in the US. Join us. Stand with Stage IV. Be the change.

A diagnosis of Metastatic Breast Cancer is devastating for the patient hearing those words that you are incurable. Listen to Julie’s reflections on how she hadn’t even heard of MBC when she was diagnosed and didn’t know what it meant. She had not heard of the signs and symptoms to look out for.  30% of early stage breast cancer patients will go on to develop MBC, which means their cancer has become incurable. This can happen 20 years later or longer.  #MetastaticMay #METUPUK #DrugApprovals #PatientVoice #DarkerPink #MBC #BreastCancerSupport #SecondaryBreastCancer #BusyLivingWithMets #Stage4NeedsMore

We are heartbroken by the loss of our beautiful Nicola, diagnosed de Novo with metastatic breast cancer at just 37. She became a fierce advocate for MBC research & a cure, Nicola's greatest love was her young son. This Mother's Day will never be the same!

@APainPrincess @BSBreastCancer this is a favorite of mine. a weird superpower of living with a terminal illness is sensing who can handle the truth and who can not. and having mercy on those who can’t by saying i’m ok. 🌸 x.com/katecbowler/st…
Kate Bowler@KatecBowler

Here’s a blessing for you who feel like the bad thing. You are everyone’s reminder of frailty, of life’s cruelty. Your chronic pain or depression or regular scans remind those around you that life isn’t as fair or easy as they had hoped. Blessed are you who try to hide your humanity. You who temper your complaints, who avoid mentioning your next appointment, who pretend you are doing better than you are to make reality a little more palatable for others. You, who try and try and try to make yourself easier to love, easier to be around, easier to manage. But, dear one, blessed are you because you are not the bad thing. Your illness or grief or despair or addiction is not too much. It’s just your humanity showing. And blessed are we who get to see it up close. Who, despite our own fears and reminders of our finitude, get to hold your hand as you face each day with courage as you face things you didn’t choose. It is this kind of courageous living– the kind that shows all the shabby edges– that we are so thankful to see up close. You, blessed one, remind us that life is so beautiful and life is so hard. And we feel lucky for the privilege to do life with you — no matter how difficult, no matter how messy. You are not the bad thing. You are a gift. And we love every bit of you.

“I’m not OK. But I can’t just say that. Because the truth is ugly and uncomfortable. If I actually said how I was, they would squirm from the awful reality of my #chronicillness… So instead I’ll say, “I’m fine.” I say this for their benefit.” buff.ly/KLOpjY3 #ChronicPain

We know @METUPUK you’re only one scan away from change… You may have noticed I’ve been quiet Before Xmas I had to chase CT scan from October & was told it would be the end of Jan My tumour marker was increasing & I explained I’d progressive disease & they rang me the next day with a cancellation 🙏🏼 We went on holiday Xmas & NY knowing things had changed & 2025 wasn’t going to be the year I expected after 2024 with a brain bleed & craniotomy surgery Retroperitoneal lymph nodes had started growing –near my colon & in stomach area towards the back V unusual place for MBC to return but as my Onc said, “well cancer can come back anywhere really” Here we go again… I had had my last #Enhertu on 8th Jan - treatment 173 A friend found a #clinicaltrial & I was signed up and on it More hoops to jump through & long lead times of getting results but thankfully the trial unit etc were able to push them through 10th Feb CT guided Biopsy 6 samples taken 11th Feb Brain MRI 12th Feb Heart Echo 13th Feb day off but ill in bed all day 14th Feb bone scan The waiting begins… The shocker was that my biopsy came back TRIPLE NEGATIVE so off the trial I wonder if you know that your BC type can change? I knew this, I’d seen many people switch Biopsy sent off for PDL1 test & took 11 days for the results PDL1 negative so can’t have immunotherapy Meantime pain, then too much codeine prescribed. A visit to the Supportive Care team, sick, headache felt awful & had a reaction to codeine I’ve really not been fit for v much but tried to keep on my nordic walking (only missed a few days if I’m not in bed or doubled over) Results: aswell as skin mets again, retroperitoneal MBC & just to piss me off more 2 small brain mets So treatment starts Wednesday after waiting over 2 months for answers. The delays for metastatic patients are unacceptable Carboplatin & abraxane on a weekly regime for 12 weeks then review I’ll be using the Scalpcooling cold cap. Will also sort cold socks & gloves for CIPN As my mum use to say “I’d drink posion if it made me feel better” Cheers to the chemo in my veins doing it’s trick Utter fucking shit show🖕🏼 #metasticbreastcancer #triplenegativebreastcancer #mTNBC

MBC has no cure. Metastatic Breast Cancer patients are getting diagnosed younger. We lost such a talented young dancer, Maggie was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer at the age of 23. She had a promising future as a ballerina & was raising funds for research for MBC. #JPM25

Such a wonderful talent lost to the world so early. Young Star Patricia Janeckova died of metastatic breast cancer, she was only 25. She left a wonderful legacy of beatiful arias sung with such angelic feeling and passion. #MBC has no cure @elonmusk #JPM25

Macklemore sings in Glorious, “I heard you die twice, once when they bury you in the grave. & the 2nd time is the last time that somebody mentions your name” Let’s keep those that have passed alive by sharing their names. I’ll start. Thinking of @CancerCanuck 2day @ThanksCancer
