Happy Endangered Species Day! Today @MayorBowser issued a proclamation celebrating the day, highlighting endangered species found in the District: Atlantic sturgeon, shortnose sturgeon, northern long-eared bat, and DC's state amphipod, the Hay's Spring amphipod.

Since January, DOEE has been monitoring E. coli levels in the Potomac River as part of the District’s response to the Potomac Interceptor collapse. The site provides sampling data from partners across the region, including DOEE, DC Water, Maryland Department of the Environment, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, and Potomac Riverkeeper Network. As results become available, they will be added to the dashboard to provide a comprehensive, transparent view that brings regional water testing data into one place. This week the House is expected to vote on a resolution that would repeal a D.C. bill that decoupled the city's tax code from some of the tax changes Republicans made last year. City officials say that if it passes Congress, it would cost D.C. $600 million over four years.

A Washington, DC primer: DC is unique. We function as a city, county, and state. We have a larger population than 2 states, we pay federal taxes, and meet all the responsibilities of citizenship. Yet, we have no voting representation in Congress. Since 1973, DC has had Home Rule, but Congress and the President still control key parts of our laws and budget.

If @councilofdc saw $13,062 laying on the 900 block of Wesley Pl SW, would they pick it up? Maybe not, given their lax support and oversight of @DCDPW parking enforcement. This is @BrianneKNadeau's committee in @charlesallen's ward. Problems they should fix (thread):

New traffic pattern at 1st & K NE. I'm disappointed that it's creating dangerous conditions for 🚶🏼‍♀️ & 🚴🏼‍♀️. In Nov '22, I broke my collarbone while biking when a 🚗 made an illegal left turn through the bike lane (at the time the intersection was no left turn from southbound lanes).
