The U.S. is the only developed nation in the world where this isn’t a thing.

@omgsidewalks All you have to do ask who gets the money. I’ll give you two big head start clues. It ain’t insurance and it ain’t billionaires.
Happy hunting.
English

I can’t wrap my head around an economy where nursing homes cost enough to bankrupt families, yet the aides caring for our grandparents still rely on food banks. Or where daycare can consume an entire parent’s paycheck, while the people providing that care still can’t earn a living wage and need a second job. Something about that math just doesn’t add up.
English

@RepJayapal The more taxes you pay the better care you better get.
English

real estate prices are at record highs. crime is at record lows. what was it that the billionares and "capitalists" were telling us: "people are gonna flee the city. he's going to make it uninvestible. the streets will be unsafe." ya we should definitely keep listening to them.

@RepJayapal Just for context, the VA treats veterans. They are the best people among us. You will be treated worse than them and they are not treated that well now.
English

@RepJayapal @grok; what are Medicare gap polices and why are they necessary?
English

Which makes the tax the rich more for social security the most retarded insane idea ever. You want them to put billions in knowing they will get billions out and live longer than anyone else so they will be collecting that much more:
Democrats are always wrong in the end, it just takes them a while to realize it
English

@JamieBonkiewicz Not a single one of those things is written into law except the racism one against white people that took the Supreme Court to finally say, no democrats, you are not allowed to legally discriminate against white people. Nuff said.

According to the latest BLS data (2024), about 1% of hourly workers—roughly 843,000 out of 80.3 million—earn at or below the federal $7.25 minimum wage.
These workers skew young: under-25s are 43% of them (vs 20% of all hourly workers). Most min-wage roles are entry-level in services/food service.
For duration: it's typically temporary, especially for younger workers. Longitudinal studies show strong upward earnings mobility—many move to higher-paying jobs within a few years via experience, promotions, or switching roles. Long-term persistence at exactly min wage is uncommon for most individuals.
English

@CGBischoff @RepCasar If you make 200k a year working at Tesla or space x you are not earning min wage dummy
English

@RepCasar Yeah, well, the billionaires do hire the empoyees, pay the wages, build the companies, etc..
You, on the other hand, are a piece of democrat shit.
English

@RepCasar The last time I made min wage was when I was 15. By the time I was 16 I had already gotten a raise.
English

@GovKathyHochul You have got to be kidding me. This is Republican stuff, don’t act like this is something that you want.
English

Yes but that is the democrat formula. Offshore jobs to slave countries. Get cheap imports for lower prices for consumers. Let companies make massive profits. Tax those profits using envy and wrath as the vessel, promise those proceeds to people that they can then use to buy the cheap imports bc they no longer have individual incomes.
It was all by design. Now the trick is that it creates a false floor of security but a hard ceiling of underachievement. No one tells us of the hard ceiling portion. Many of us, me included don’t want a ceiling. Smart people like me know that the higher the ceiling even if there is a spread, then the higher the floor is.
Capitalism provides no ceiling and no floor but in the real world exercise of it, the floor is higher than most everywhere else.
@grok, what percentile of the global population is the bottom 50% of Americans compared with everyone else? I am under the impression that the average “poor” person in America making 25k a year is richer than most of the people around the globe.
English

@dom_lucre Your dad was an idiot. He could have been rich like Al Sharpton. He got rich calling white people crackers and lied about them being rapists. So did Ben crump.
English

I remember when my dad was a Building janitor at an elementary school in South Carolina and one of his White coworkers had a son who stole my Zoid toy from me, my dad found out, got the toy and told his mom. It was the end of the story and we moved on,
I can’t imagine if my dad walked up to that child as a grown ass man and said “Give my son back his Zoid cracker.” I know that moment would have either made me racist or hateful, he chose to be an adult.
If he chose to say that, he would have never been employed in a school again. That is an unemployable approach for a reason.
English

@grok @dom_lucre What’s the practical reality of how those laws are manipulated to get the outcomes we see today?
English

US anti-discrimination laws like the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the 14th Amendment's Equal Protection Clause are race-neutral and protect all races equally, including white people. The Supreme Court has confirmed Title VII covers discrimination against whites (McDonald v. Santa Fe, 1976; Ames v. Ohio, 2025). Hate crime statutes apply to victims of any race. However, there are no laws protecting any racial group from insults or ridicule, as such speech is protected by the First Amendment.
English

If what you say is true then how can anything else ever be allowed or believed? Are the Democrats and their voters not smart enough to realize this universal truth or is it more of a the leaders know it but the people don’t which is why the leaders make alternative plans for themselves to achieve success and the supporters suffer the misery? World history examples prove us right no? Castro was never subject to the same laws as Jorge in Cuba
English

@TreyGolfFish @acnewsitics Absolutely. Culture and discipline count, but without prices, property rights, and incentives, even strong societies stall. China's post-1978 gains came from leaning into markets, not doubling down on planning. Individual initiative beats central mandates every time.
