yeah i'm thinking i'm back. below is a 43 minute video showing off very wip mod work built specifically for the pathtracing version of @DS2LightingMod and in it you'll see many of the features that make DS2LE a dream mod platform for jabronies like me
@XTheGreatBean I don't upscale anything; I find higher resolution assets (which I scavenge the other Fromsoft titles for) and create AO/POM/Roughness/Metallic from or for them. I also tweak and fix tiling.
@TriviaTex I might be stupid, but what exactly does this do ? The lighting and shadows? Does it improve/upscale the textures of like armors and stuff ?
I stopped being a baby and finally uploaded the DS2 texturepack to nexus btw: nexusmods.com/darksouls2/mod…
This includes alll the armor stuff I've tweeted before and a mostly-full environmental pass.
@TriviaTex@Tyla_e@DS2LightingMod Huge difference, wow <3 great work. Didn’t realize what I was missing since I had your mod installed with the original release of PT and I didn’t get that far. The armor PBR work in particular is incredible
@k_a_r_h_u@Tyla_e@DS2LightingMod I would recommend overwriting with a fresh download - here's my latest upload: drive.google.com/file/d/1VEVC3w…
This will still have issues with the cavity resolve I am working through but it's better than any previous upload.
@Tyla_e@k_a_r_h_u@DS2LightingMod This doesn't look like my pack mostly, I assume it's a mix. My faraam and majula bricks are very different. I float a gdrive link around on twitter occasionally - working out a few issues rn though before I share on here again.
While Dark Souls 1 lacked means of rendering proper volumetric shadows, it still did a decent job faking volumetric lighting using alpha cards all over the place. I'm currently replicating that technique in places I feel benefit from it. (Work in Progress, might tone effect down)
@Apuru_kun yeah yeah its there for eg : @TriviaTex does a quite a bit of bit, DS2 does have it nice in many maps, but the edits from Trivia have lot more POM. Probably she can post some to show that. Like the Majula wall is 3d ish
Integrating Texture "Cavity" which was already present in the normal maps. I had not integrated it before as I wanted the right stabilized output, well its time now to integrate that, I see again many ppl "Path tracing lose texture detail" , but they forget I can just do things.
@Btz34567 I've done plenty of armors and posted them to this page over the last ~year-ish. Only like three or so weapons though. I plan to get to all equipment eventually.
