In the Welsh Guards, nothing is accidental.
Every button aligned.
Every crease sharp.
Every strap, stitch and thread exactly where it should be.
To some, it’s just a uniform.
To us, it’s discipline made visible.
Attention to detail isn’t about looking smart for the sake of it. It’s about pride. It’s about standards. It’s about knowing that if you can be trusted with the small things, you can be trusted when it really counts.
Because the same mindset that checks a button twice is the mindset that checks a mate, checks an order, checks a detail that others might miss.
That’s what we look for.
People who care when no one’s watching.
People who understand that the little things aren’t little at all.
If you want to be part of something where standards matter, where pride runs deep, and where detail is a way of life — the Welsh Guards might be for you.

Throwback Thursday | Trooping the Colour, 1920.
A remarkable glimpse into history — Trooping the Colour in 1920.
It’s easy to watch footage like this and admire the ceremony, the discipline and the pageantry… but what makes it truly humbling is remembering the context. Many — if not most — of the men seen here would have been veterans of the Great War, which had ended only two years earlier in 1918. Soldiers who had faced the mud, smoke and unimaginable hardship of the Western Front, now standing with absolute composure in the public eye.
Even more striking is where this moment sits in time: this was 19 years before the outbreak of the Second World War. A world unknowingly between conflicts — a brief pause in history before another storm.
For the Welsh Guards, it’s a powerful reminder of our early years as a Regiment. Raised in 1915, the Welsh Guards were still only five years old at this point — already embedded in the traditions of the Household Division, already building the standards and identity that remain today.
A proper throwback. A proper legacy.
With thanks to British Pathé for the use of this historic footage.

The Household Division
The Household Division is the very heartbeat of ceremonial soldiering in the British Army. It’s made up of the Foot Guards — the Grenadier, Coldstream, Scots, Irish and Welsh Guards — alongside the Household Cavalry, split between the Mounted Regiment and the Household Cavalry Regiment. From state occasions on the world stage to operational tours across the globe, we represent the highest standards of discipline, professionalism and military excellence.
But this isn’t just pageantry. Every Guardsman you see in bearskin, helmet or cuirass is first and foremost a trained, deployable soldier. We guard palaces and national moments, but we also deploy, train hard and operate wherever the nation asks. Tradition and modern soldiering sit side by side — and within the Household Division, there’s no hiding place.
What binds us together is pride. Pride in serving the Crown. Pride in those who stood before us. And pride in carrying forward a legacy built over centuries through sacrifice, loyalty and relentless standards. Every step on parade, every button polished, every rifle carried — it all means something.
To wear these uniforms isn’t about looking the part. It’s about living up to it.
