Quote of the century: "Corporate America is the biggest financial backer of our country's progressive trends. That's the big irony: the GOP provides tax cuts for corporations that then use all of their fortunes to bankroll the Democratic Party's candidates & causes."- @emeriticus

A viral post sparks outrage as Americans voice frustration over layoffs and foreign workers on visas securing jobs and housing. Debate is intensifying over fairness and opportunity in the workforce.

The lengths some of these companies go to discriminate against Americans in favor of cheap foreign labor is truly disturbing. Glad to see some accountability. But the easiest thing to do is simply end the visas that provide the pathway to discriminate in the first place.
U.S. Tech Workers@USTechWorkers

A Manhattan federal jury on Monday awarded $8.4 million to a New York University professor and former Cognizant Technology Solutions employee who claimed he was fired in retaliation for alleging the information technology company engaged in systematic hiring bias. . . . Jean-Claude Franchitti said he was fired in 2016 from a $350,000-a-year job after a decade at New Jersey-based Cognizant. He claimed it was retaliation for asking questions about the company's alleged bias toward hiring workers from India as part of a "cheap labor" profit model. The award for Franchitti consisted of $4.2 million in back pay, or lost wages, and $4.2 million in punitive damages. The jury declined to award compensation for front pay, or future earnings, or for an emotional distress claim. The trial revealed a dearth of written communications from Franchitti complaining about Cognizant's alleged strategy to keep a cheap labor pipeline open. His lawyers said Franchitti kept concerns verbal because he knew he was walking a "fine line" and wanted to find fixes diplomatically. Franchitti is pleased with the verdict, his lawyer, Daniel Kotchen, told Law360 via email. "The jury sent a strong message that violating employees' rights will not be tolerated," he said. There’s no requirement that there is a shortage of US workers for H-1B. Instead, you have to show that the job is a “speciality occupation”- basically a profession that requires a college degree, the applicant has such a degree and that the employer is paying the prevailing wage or higher.

Stanford University (@Stanford) just posted a notice of intent to hire an H-1B Database Administrator Salary: $142,000 No software developer in the Bay area was qualified to administer this database.

Silicon Valley is actively operating as a massive foreign influence operation here in America because over 70% of Big Tech's workforce relies on foreign H1B visa workers. We already saw the severe dangers of this during President Trump's first term when a Turkish national literally deleted his Twitter account and foreign operatives from Saudi Arabia used their employee access at Twitter to spy on political dissidents' private messages. As Lee Smith @LeeSmithDC and I discussed on @LoomerUnleashed, we cannot expect content moderators from communist regimes and Sharia-controlled countries to protect our platforms from foreign meddling and election interference. We as American citizens deserve to debate our own politics without being censored, shadowbanned, or manipulated by foreign nationals with massive bot networks who hate our country!

Hello Senator Thune, Let's expose what you're really doing with "reconciliation." You announced it yesterday, eleven months after the House passed the SAVE America Act. You're not trying to pass this bill. You're trying to kill it in a way you can blame on process. Here's how we know: Reconciliation requires the Senate parliamentarian to rule that provisions are "budgetary." Citizenship verification is not budgetary. Photo ID mandates are not budgetary. The parliamentarian will gut the bill. Then you'll shrug and say "we tried." We see through you. Meanwhile, you WON'T use the tools that actually work: Rule XIX limits each senator to two speeches per legislative day. Keep the Senate in continuous session, file cloture daily, and the filibuster exhausts in ~12-20 days. You dismissed it as "complicated." Because if you tried and succeeded, you'd have to actually pass the bill. Harry Reid nuked the filibuster in 2013 when he wanted results. Mitch McConnell changed Senate rules THREE times and canceled the August recess. Chuck Schumer used reconciliation within months on a 50-50 Senate. You have 53 seats. You've changed nothing, canceled nothing, and waited eleven months. Now let's talk donors: • Goldman Sachs: $150K to you - top H-1B user • Google: $75K - lobbies against E-Verify • Meta: $72.5K - Zuckerberg's FWD[.]us pushes mass immigration • Wells Fargo: $90K - banks undocumented immigrants Same corporations sponsor Punchbowl News, where you sit for "Fly Out Days" which nobody watches except Congress staffers and K Street lobbyists who pays premium bucks for legislative intelligence. Their reporter then telegraphs to the audience the SAVE Act "will ultimately fail." Corporate money flows to you AND to the outlet that frames your inaction as inevitable. We see the loop. You called grassroots anger a "paid influencer ecosystem." YOU are the paid influencer. You take the wrong side of a 80% issue because you are indistinguishable from a K Street mouthpiece, and an ineffective one to boot who won't bend the rules to get anything passed. What we want: 1. Force a real talking filibuster. 2. Stop hiding behind process. 3. Pass the SAVE America Act. YOU will become the reason that we will have our butts kicked in midterms. Not Candace Owens, not Nick Fuentes, not anyone else. You and you alone, and all because you want to make the 200 or so viewers of Punchbowl Fly Out Days happy. You're living in a K Street information bubble, addicted to the comforts and praises of lobbyists masquerading as journalists. You mistake the steak and martini dinners you get invited to as your own constituents. You are not "moderate." The SAVE America Act has 98% support among Republicans. Name one other thing that has 98% support. You are an extreme minority who prides himself on being a calm leader, when in reality you are well in the running for the most ineffective Majority leader of all time. Prove me wrong. Do the bare modicum of effort. Not symbolic. Actual effort. Cancel the recess. Get SAVE America Act passed.

Americans are the most highly skilled unemployed workforce the world has ever known. And still our politicians say if we would just educate ourselves, we would find a job. --- Jessica finished her CS degree at a top-tier public university in December with $174k in federal loans and a 3.91 GPA She's submitted 1,203 applications since graduation Got callbacks from exactly 7 companies. Made it to final rounds at 2. Both went with "no junior hires this cycle" The feedback is always the same: "We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running with AI tooling" Last week she interviewed at a Series B fintech that posted an "Associate Software Engineer" role The engineering manager was honest: "This role used to be for bootcamp grads and new CS majors. Now we need someone who can manage 3 AI agents and review their output at senior level" The salary range dropped from $95k to $68k because "the AI does most of the actual coding" Her algorithms professor still brags about 98% job placement rates from 2019-2022 Jessica's working retail at Target while her loan payments kick in next month $1,847 monthly minimum on a $16/hour Target salary She keeps getting LinkedIn ads for "AI Bootcamps" promising to make her "recession-proof" The same bootcamps now cost $24k because they know desperate CS grads will pay anything Her former classmates who got hired? They're all at consulting firms or doing product management The ones still coding are mostly maintaining legacy systems at banks, waiting for those to get automated too Yesterday she got an email from her university asking for a donation to the new "AI Ethics Research Center" But sure, keep telling kids that computer science is a stable career path

USAA. Founded by Army officers. Built to serve military families. Laid off almost 600 American employees in a single round while posting a record $7.9 billion profit. The Heritage Foundation flagged USAA for hiring H-1B workers through outsourcing firms like Tata and HCL. Patriotism is the brand. Outsourcing is the business model.
Matt Forney@mattforney

EXCLUSIVE: an insider at USAA provides footage of the company's recent Diwali event. It looks like a Tim and Eric skit. Remember, while USAA throws parties for Indians, it ignores American holidays and its veteran employees are committing suicide from stress and layoffs.
