@blazerbanter Yeah they also had Rudy, Ant, Jaden, Naz, NAW and others. Why believe in KAT when the team that made it there didn’t? And if they want to be the worse version of something, imo at least aim higher than 1 conference finals win.

@shaesharpeshow That’d be gross (derogatory) offensively and personally I wouldn’t count on 3/5ths of that lineup playing over 60 games each.

@gocougs123 I don’t see much downside. They’d give the PAC a 9th football member, a new time zone to schedule in, possible inroads on basketball scheduling, and a decently funded program. Unless you want to sit on your hands for a few years or dip into the FCS/CUSA there’s no better option.

Longtime Portlander with 1 degree of separation insider trading Bombshell I waited to drop till the end of season. -Milwaukee wants Clingan -A deal is basically there The only hiccup is the Blazers will never do this without Giannis signing an extension Balls in GA’s court

@tmetcalf11 @Ripamaru Yeah but having a lottery with flattened odds extends that losing incentive all the way to teams literally in the playoff hunt. Removing the lottery removes the losing incentive for most of those teams who know they aren’t the worst of the worst.

I'm fine with that. The problem though is that the entire incentive structure to improve is to lose. When you have an awesome draft class and a third of the league aiming to lose, it's bad for the product. That's how the NBA views it. Teams tank in the NFL but since their season is a lot shorter they can do it for 1-3 weeks and no one really bats an eye. With an 82 game schedule it's different, and also an entirely different conversation lol.

@tmetcalf11 @Ripamaru The fact that the NBA isn’t interested in letting the draft help bad teams is a fundamental flaw with the entire thing. Eliminating the lottery would’ve been a much better solution.

Their goal with it isn’t to help bad teams it’s to “fix” tanking and disincentivize purposely losing even though teams will always manipulate whatever system is in place. I’d be fine with straight standings and don’t think we really even need a fix. For what their goal is though I don’t think the bones of this are horrible. Curious, how will it make tanking worse?

@HPbasketball So the model is to hope the Kings trade you an all-nba player? Thats not really a reliable model, especially for the Kings.

No! We don't want to do that! But we have to, because teams have taken it to this absurdly stupid place. That's the consequence. It sucks. But also? There are ways to improve that aren't the draft even for small markets. The Pacers need to be the model for these teams who can't seem to get the once in a lifetime No.1 pick
Div B@statcenter

So let's say this new plan actually eliminated tanking. Everyone tried to win all season. Someone still has to finish in the bottom 3! A naturally bad team! And we want to give them less odds to improve than better teams - and even potentially let them slip to 12th yr after yr?

Key point from the lottery reform proposal: The winner of the 7-8 play in game gets the No. 7 seed. Loser gets into the lottery. That seems like an invitation to tank that game especially since you can still make the playoffs through the second play-in game.

My main fear. Getting rid of this 22 yo that has been a smooth 20ppg type of scorer since his rookie year. Portland acts like they don’t know hes special. Shae ceiling is higher than Deni.
Point Made Basketball@pointmadebball

Shaedon Sharpe has always been a rhythm player, but Portland has been disrupting that rhythm by giving him inconsistent run But, in my opinion, his shotmaking is even more crucial in the playoffs, where having perimeter creators is even more important

@na7ural_ He needs to improve on his handle, passing, defense, 3pt shooting, health, and attention to detail. Thats a long list for a guy with a $90 million deal.

I disagree with majority of ppl in the comments. Kid is 22 with a 50 inch vert and a 7 foot wingspan who is one of the best finishers in the entire league. Improved on defense, excellent in passing lanes and a lob threat. Needs to tighten up his handle, gain muscle, and play make

@BlazersLead From my experience as a blazer fan this team needs multiple dramatic failures before the fan base and front office considers making a change, so I’m glad we put our name in history with that stinker.

Would you rather the Blazers had lost by 20 in a slow-burn fashion, with the Spurs winning each quarter by a couple of points? Or was it better to have seen the flashes of excellence, only to squander them in epic fashion?

@PointMadeEvan @jpsperspective And congrats to him! but I’ve seen two different coaches bench him for lack of effort/IQ and he hasn’t improved his pretty severe flaws that hold him back. I’m not trying to dis his season, just saying why he’s in that role. Also I’m pretty sure he’s on a minutes restriction.

@TroutTyler @jpsperspective Brother he was our 2nd leading scorer and we don't get close to 42 wins without him. He's a 22 year old averaging 21ppg on the season. What are you on?

Does Splitter know Sharpe is on the team? For a team that can’t make a shot or create one on their own, it’s crazy that Sharpe is just sitting on the bench.

@Firstand16_Pod You point out a problem but you’re not offering an actual solution, you’re just saying you want the G5 to die where no one will watch them rather than in the CFP.

Getting a lot of pushback from G5 schools. Here is what you don’t understand…. I don’t hate you guys. In fact I feel for you. We are in a system where it is literally IMPOSSIBLE for any G5 to win the National Championship. There are 65 G5 schools and with the most recent change to the rules, only one of those schools makes the Playoff, likely as a 12-seed. That means going on the road to play the 5-seed. Win that game? Now you get the 4-seed, the likely the 1 and the 2. Meanwhile your best players are transferring out every single year chasing NIL and exposure. The system is set up for you to fail. I hate it. I root for a team who was a G5 for nearly my whole life. I get it. The best option is to break off and create you own Championship.

@PointMadeEvan @jpsperspective You have to prove you’re worthy of trust in order to get minutes and a longer leash. Clearly Tiago gives af. It’s nice that’s he’s doing somewhat well, but you can’t expect inconsistent play off the bench to override the year of trust he failed to build up with Tiago.

@TroutTyler @jpsperspective None of that refutes the fact that in this series... The team is playing better when he's on the court vs when he's off. Offensively and defensively. Who gives a shit if they're hunting him on defense, let them, it's not working well.

@PointMadeEvan @jpsperspective Sharpe has a <1 assist/TO ratio this season. You just don’t get to have a long leash with a stat that sorry. It’s nice he hasn’t turned it over yet this postseason, but his shooting hasn’t been amazing and the staff can’t trust him on defense.
