As well as he did, it does best the question: how do a club spend over £200million on wingers, then wind up with a full-back as their main attacking threat?
Misfortune is part of the problem but, as @reallycerys writes, perhaps the recruitment department need to focus on creating a more robust and adaptable squad this summer.
