Two Americans have been arrested over a stunt at a viral baby monkey named Punch’s enclosure at a zoo in Japan. The Ichikawa Police Department identified the suspects as 24-year-old Reid Jahnai Dayson, a university student, and 27-year-old Neal Jabahri Duan, who told police he is a singer. Authorities said Dayson scaled the fence while wearing a costume featuring a smiley face mask with sunglasses, causing the monkeys to scatter. The two men face charges of forcible obstruction of business, which they refute, Ichikawa Zoo said in a post on its X account on Monday that, starting Tuesday, access to the enclosure housing Punch will be restricted. The zoo also said “intrusion prevention nets” will be installed and permanent patrols will be deployed at the site. Zoo officials are also considering a ban on video recording in the area. What an embarrassment these two are. I wish Japan would keep them there.
