A bottle of expired Gelusil Is contesting for the BJP in West Bengal. A creature who abused his journalistic credentials to always punt for the BJP. Sat at the late Jaitley’s feet to take press release dictation & did a full stint as a nominated MP now this worm is voluntarily downgrading himself to contest as as an MLA. Guess who

@joybhattacharj One of the 18, Gavaskar had as his opening partner. While doing a Sharma Indian XI, he was very much part of it.

I was poring through the scorecards in that fabled 1974-75 series against the West Indies, and suddenly came across Parthasarathy Sharma's name. Sharma was a stand out domestic performer who never quite translated that form to international cricket. But he was a terrific batting coach. Gautam Gambhir once told me how during a particularly lean patch, he had sought Sharma's advice and gone down to Jaipur to practice with him. And in the nets, for the first few days, Sharma just asked him to pad up, but leave his bat in the dressing room. And to each delivery, all he had to do was move his feet to the correct position. And, according to Gambhir, it really helped him sort his footwork issues, and he went back and had a great series. I still remember the gratitude in Gautam's voice as he recounted the story. A good coach or mentor can sometimes just unlock you!

Indian media is doing a disservice to Indian expats in the Middle East by hyperventilating the same way it did during Pak-India war. Have some shame and stop screaming like banshees & melting down like you’re the ones in some war bunker.

We were discussing anchors on another forum, and a friend related perhaps the best story about what happens when newsreaders are not totally clued in on a subject. In 2006, when she was a sports anchor, a senior news anchor asked her about the big new controversy in cricket about hair. “Can't cricketers keep long hair? Why is that a controversy?” she asked For a few seconds my friend was totally thrown. Had she missed some global debate on cricketer hairstyles? And then the penny dropped - the senior anchor had actually been referring to the Darrell Hair Oval Test controversy, when he accused the Pakistani team of ball tampering. She must have been briefed about a 'hair' controversy in cricket, and assumed it was about hairstyles. My friend decided then and there that a sports anchor's job was not for her. I was tempted to say 'hair today, gone tomorrow,' but that would have been too low a blow.

Sounds pretty civilised to me. Holi in North India was celebrated on the streets - a scary business in all the years I lived there. Drunken thuggish and misogynistic Very happy to be here in south India where the festival is celebrated privately and politely. High HDI Flex

To my fellow Indians, all over the world 🇮🇳 We celebrate heroes in every sport. While the spotlight is on the Men in the T20 Cricket World Cup, or if you’re stressed about your football club losing to a relegation side, chasing Top 4, or a title race - Our Indian women are preparing to represent us at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 in Australia. For the first time ever, India has qualified through merit, rather than by invitation or by hosting.

Again my friends from Dubai who are boasting about Ferraris and Lambo's. Dubai has seen this wealth very recently (post 90's). Mumbai for much of its history has been a wealthy city & one of the most strategic ports. Nobody in Mumbai rode on camels. Don't disrespect your own country to please a country which can deport you anytime at will.

“Arrival of incorrect match kits at this crucial stage has affected morale & disrupted focus in final days leading up to the match. Representing India on int'l stage requires professional standards, including properly fitted & appropriate apparel.” -- Players in letter to AIFF
Marcus Mergulhao@MarcusMergulhao

The Indian women’s football team in Australia for the AFC Asian Cup was forced to hurriedly source playing kits locally after the set of jerseys sent by AIFF was manufactured for age-group teams, and “did not fit at least 80% of the 26-member squad.” timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/goa/ill-f…
