If a secret police force can rip a U.S. citizen from their car and throw them into an unmarked vehicle for no reason, then no one in this country is actually safe from this administration.

When I was 22 years old, I commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy and swore an oath to the Constitution. I upheld that oath through flight school, multiple deployments on the USS Midway, 39 combat missions in Operation Desert Storm, test pilot school, four space shuttle flights at NASA, and every day since I retired – which I did after my wife Gabby was shot in the head while serving her constituents. In combat, I had a missile blow up next to my jet and flew through anti-aircraft fire to drop bombs on enemy targets. At NASA, I launched on a rocket, commanded the space shuttle, and was part of the recovery mission that brought home the bodies of my astronaut classmates who died on Columbia. I did all of this in service to this country that I love and has given me so much. Secretary Hegseth’s tweet is the first I heard of this. I also saw the President’s posts saying I should be arrested, hanged, and put to death. If this is meant to intimidate me and other members of Congress from doing our jobs and holding this administration accountable, it won’t work. I’ve given too much to this country to be silenced by bullies who care more about their own power than protecting the Constitution.

THREAD: Judge Ellis is the first federal judge to review extensive body cam video of DHS's actions in Chicago. She finds that DHS *repeatedly* misled the public and made claims that were disproven by agents' own videos. I'll go through some of the most egregious ones here.

WOW. Judge Ellis finds that Chief Bovino gave "not credible" testimony, stating that he "appeared evasive over the three days of his deposition, either providing 'cute' responses ... or outright lying." She highlights how he denied tackling someone even though it was on video.

For the umpteeth time, Trump says something that would normally cause a national scandal, and provoke worried discussions about his stability. But years of firehosing Americans with this kind of nuttery has worn down even sensible people into "well, it's him, what can you do"
Acyn@Acyn

Reporter: Mr. President, why wait for congress to release the Epstein files? Why not just do it now? Trump: It's not the question that I mind. It's your attitude… I think the license should be taken away from ABC. We have a great commissioner, a chairman who should look at that.

"And then, near the end of his life, Dick Cheney stepped back into the arena. He was courageous and clear in his denunciation of the man and the movement that now threatens the well-being and future of the nation he loved."

Statement by President George W. Bush on Vice President Dick Cheney: The death of Richard B. Cheney is a loss to the nation and a sorrow to his friends. Laura and I will remember Dick Cheney for the decent, honorable man that he was. History will remember him as among the finest public servants of his generation – a patriot who brought integrity, high intelligence, and seriousness of purpose to every position he held. As a young White House aide and chief of staff, a Congressman, a Secretary of Defense, and my Vice President, Dick earned the confidence and high opinion of five presidents. I asked him to join my ticket in 2000 after first enlisting him to help me find the best running mate. In our long discussions about the qualities a vice president should have – deep experience, mature judgment, character, loyalty – I realized that Dick Cheney was the one I needed. I’m still grateful that he was at my side for the eight years that followed.  Dick was a calm and steady presence in the White House amid great national challenges. I counted on him for his honest, forthright counsel, and he never failed to give his best. He held to his convictions and prioritized the freedom and security of the American people. For those two terms in office, and throughout his remarkable career, Dick Cheney’s service always reflected credit on the country he loved. Dick’s love for America was second only to his family.  Laura and I have shared our deepest sympathies with Vice President Cheney’s wife Lynne and their daughters and grandchildren of whom he was so deeply proud. We are praying for Lynne, Liz, Mary, and the Cheney family as they honor a great man.

The systematic twisting of government to benefit friends and relatives of the president and to punish critics and antagonists should be the scandal of the day. It should offend all Americans, from left to right. It's illegal, wrong, unfair, and un American.

What’s happening with ICE in Chicago is an OUTRAGE. I want to share a full explainer of the reality on the ground—even if it’s tough to see. Pay attention. Stand with innocent families. Watch.

The DOJ has purged people who insist on saying what is right and wrong, who live by principles, not expediency. This Administration is entirely led by people committed to expediency over principle, self-advancement over right and wrong.
AAGHarmeetDhillon@AAGDhillon

We need more people who insist that we say what is right and wrong—people who live by principles, not expediency. @POTUS is a unique man who has made that once again possible in our nation, and I am so proud to be part of his fantastic administration at @TheJusticeDept.

Went to Chicago No Kings rally. A huge, peaceful crowd. Families were there. People of all ages. Lots of homemade signs (Soros apparently needs to up the signage budget). Some scenes below. There was such a huge gap between scary GOP rhetoric and the completely peaceful reality

What's most dangerous about this administration isn't its policy agenda or even the wanton illegality; it's that it doesn't believe it represents all of us. It believes it represents one faction and has a mission to crush the other. This is how the American Experiment dies.

Credit to the editors at The Battalion (Texas A&M’s student newspaper) for this bold editorial that asks all the right questions about the ouster of Gen. Welsh as A&M’s president.
The Battalion@TheBattOnline

The Battalion Editorial Board condemns the political pressure put on President Welsh that led to his resignation. What kind of System is the Board of Regents running where the opinions of politicians seemingly matter more than those of students and staff? thebatt.com/opinion/editor…

Presidential immunity. Mass pardons of aligned politically motivated criminals. Pardons for friends and donors, and a Pardon Attorney who brags "No MAGA left behind." Wholesale abandonment of anticorruption enforcement. Seems quite a lot of people are above the law.
Attorney General Pamela Bondi@AGPamBondi

No one is above the law. Today’s indictment reflects this Department of Justice’s commitment to holding those who abuse positions of power accountable for misleading the American people. We will follow the facts in this case.

“The gravest sin here is not so much that Trump has an enemies list and that he is issuing kingly orders of retribution. It is that not a single elected Republican seems likely to stand up and condemn this total perversion of the American legal system.” Well said by @RosenzweigP.
The Atlantic@TheAtlantic

It is difficult “to express how utterly transgressive Trump’s demands for personal justice are, how important the norms are that he is now violating, and how much destruction he is inflicting on the rule of law,” @RosenzweigP argues. But let’s try: theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…
