I condemn last night’s Russian attack on Ukraine, which yet again struck civilian sites, killing and injuring many. Russia's attacks on civilians are deeply concerning. Our thoughts are with the victims and all those affected. Norway remains steadfast in its support for Ukraine.

By striking the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, one of the greatest holy sites of Christianity, Putin has forever put his name on the list of history’s worst barbarians. He should be damned for centuries. And he will lose this war. From the Horde in the 13th century to the Nazis and Bolsheviks in the 20th century, Kyiv’s sacred monasteries have suffered numerous barbarically attacks. Now we are dealing with Russian terrorists who have already outmatched ISIS in their crimes against cultural heritage. Only Russian scum who have nothing sacred can deliberately damage the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a unique UNESCO heritage site under special protection. We will be urgently initiating all relevant procedures within UNESCO and all other international mechanisms, demanding immediate and adequate responses to this state barbarism. We expect strong reactions by international institutions and capitals. No vague words, silence, or weak steps. We need action now to stop Russian barbarism.

Takk, shukran, thank you @WFPLebanon for the great work to support people in need in 🇱🇧. Norway pleased to add 10 mill NOK to WFP in Lebanon- for food and other critical assistance, in cooperation w/the Lebanese Government. Great to hear Norwegian language also @ValandAnne 🇳🇴🇱🇧🇺🇳

We have intelligence data indicating that Russia is preparing for a new massive attack. It is important that all our partners know what is happening and that Russia continues to rely on missiles and further war, not diplomatic steps. First of all, this means that additional sanctions pressure on Russia is needed and that the implementation of our air defense arrangements with partners cannot be delayed. I discussed the relevant tasks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha – what must be done in the coming weeks and which steps by partners can most effectively support our defense. Anti-ballistic defense is the key task. We are also preparing our detailed proposals for a new European sanctions package and additional measures against the circumvention of existing sanctions. I thank everyone who is helping protect life!

Today, delivering aid to people in severe need of assistance and under constant attack in #Kherson, a clearly marked @UN vehicle was struck by a drone. Over 200 civilians, mostly older people, remain there. More from the Head of @UNOCHA in Ukraine, who accompanied the convoy⬇️
