There seems to be some confusion regarding the timeline for Lord of the Rings: The Shadow of the Past.
Variety reported that it will take place 14 years after the end of The Return of the King: “Set 14 years after the passing of Frodo, the film will follow Sam, Merry, and Pippin as they set out to retrace the first steps of their adventure.”
In Colbert and Jackson’s announcement video, they said the movie will focus on chapters 3–8 of The Fellowship of the Ring.
The future setting seems to be the framing device for the film. A huge chunk of the film will likely be flashbacks to the events of those chapters.
This means we will most likely see the Barrow-wights, Tom Bombadil, and Goldberry! (And perhaps some de-aging technology for the Hobbits!)

@VoiceIslanderFn @puckempire Part of the reason face value has risen so high is because of scalpers. There is no point in fan friendly pricing if scalpers just buy up everything and resell so teams started charging more to get some of that extra margin scalpers took

@hamptonism @CHASEMONEYDOE It might one day but it’s been trying to replace bookkeeping (which a lot of people confuse with actual accounting) for about 7 years and it’s still not there. The idea that it’ll be weighing variables and applying professional judgement really soon without oversight is a stretch
