Even Taylor Swift or whatever, the minute she endorses a major-party candidate, it offsets her influence. Better to keep your distance and have the influencer’s support be implicit.

A lot of the obsession with political "influencers" is FOMO, middle-aged guys like me thinking they're missing out on important trends, which they undoubtedly are. But talking about influencers doesn't solve that problem it just makes you seem like you're overcompensating.

@JJ_McCullough I think one factor that would be in the US' favor is that the odds of a prolonged insurgency in Iran are pretty low. The IRGC has exceedingly little support among the population, which is a prerequisite to be able to hide among the people and sustain a insurgency.

Demand typically only gets that weak because people are broke and in debt. And weak demand makes it harder to run businesses and generally slows economic activity.
