Active transportation advocate. Film and media prof. Let's reimagine how we connect. Digital is great fast. Streets are great sticky and slow!

The progressive transportation/traffic engineer's playbook: 🚫 Slip lanes, right turn lanes, right turn overlap signals, right turn on red 🚫 Center turn lanes on low volume roads 🚫 Fixation on crashes or existing bike/ped volume to justify accommodations 1/2

Twitter hasn’t heard the story of how I, an SUV owning EMT, became the safe streets advocate I am today. 🧵 I became an EMT in late 2018. I owned and drove an SUV, and was pretty ambivalent about infrastructure and safe streets (sometimes maybe even skeptical).

"Reusing existing buildings typically saves between 50-75 percent of the carbon that would be expended in constructing a new building." Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund and Main Street > bit.ly/3NEaFQ4

Beginning in July, NYC DOT & partners will tag abandoned #BikeNYC to be removed from public bike racks. Abandoned bikes are usable bikes that are locked to a public bike rack for more than seven consecutive days & are different from derelict bikes. It's 2023 and protected bike lanes *still* increase safety (crashes drop 40%) and the inclusivity of your city's bicycle facilities for riders of all ages and abilities. /reminder...for now.
