Why does our town have wide crossings and center turn lanes in low volume roads? Why are there even questions about counting pedestrians before installing a safe crossing at a bus stop and where families need to cross the street to get to the one sidewalk?

So that’s the story. I joined the boards of @bikejc and @SafeStreetsJC, and we’re still working towards safer streets. As I’ve written about before, first responders and safe infrastructure can coexist, and we owe it to first responders and citizens to make it so.

I keep meeting parents who've lost beautiful bright children w lives just beginning to unfold. Yesterday I met Alek's dad, a thoughtful man devastated by the loss of his young adult son. Alek was struck by an SUV driver while cycling. We've tolerated road fatalities far too long.
