@sanguineblood And there's been plenty of criticism made of the stories purely on their own merits since the first book came out. It's not as if they're perfect masterpieces people only dislike for ulterior reasons.

@MinModulation The Frankenstein complaint is a giveaway of being a specific dislike of literary analysis in general, preferring general pop culture consensus to dictate opinions instead. It was a minor thing in the tabloids a couple of years ago, angry at university lit courses on it.

"good art is horny" isn't solely about art having sex scenes in them. it's about art having blood pulsing through it, as if through an erection or clitoris. even many explicit sex scenes in media has no legitimate "blood" running through them - sex without sex.
