@balajis BTW, Durov is "free" currently (he is forbidden to leave France however)

CAN TELEGRAM PROVE ENTRAPMENT? Normally Telegram would not be able to lawfully release any of Macron’s Telegram messages. But it is now being reported that Macron invited Pavel Durov to dinner in France, thereby luring him to the country for arrest[1]. The French government apparently denies this. But any such invitation by Macron would likely have been extended in part on Telegram, given that Macron has reportedly been a user for many years[2]. So: Telegram may have the evidence on its servers to show that Macron lured Durov into France. All that remains is for another credible government — perhaps the UAE? — to serve Telegram with a lawful search warrant for evidence on the unlawful detention of its citizen, Pavel Durov. Telegram could then be compelled by legal process to find evidence, if it existed, of Macron entrapping Pavel Durov. And the UAE government could choose to present this evidence to the French government. Or publish it to the world. Needless to say, proof of such skullduggery would be a black eye for France, for Macron, and for anyone in DC who might have been involved with the arbitrary persecution of a tech entrepreneur and his one billion users. Whether the entrapment was illegal or not, it certainly wouldn’t help bring tech investment to France. And France would probably release Durov rather than suffer continuous public humiliation with the (lawful!) release of each new Macron message — should they exist. In this fashion, the Telegram network and the UAE state might join forces to free their CEO and citizen.

This could get crazy if true. Telegram messages are not encrypted. France is trying to arrest the CEO of a Russian team that has plaintext access to every message the French president has ever sent or received.. “Macron has been a Telegram user since…” politico.eu/article/telegr…

@gave_vincent @CArchiteut16965 @IdLibertes @RnaudBertrand You are confusing things. Le Parquet de Paris is absolutely not known to tilt to the left (its current president actually worked with several right-wing ministers). Le "mur des cons" was in the "Syndicat de la magistrature", which is a magistrates trade union.

But consider the possibility that he is NOT lying (after all, he had the option to say nothing. The executive branch does not need to comment on every action of the judiciary) Consider the possibility that the Parquet de Paris, an organisation that tends to tilt pretty far to the Left (if you are French, you may remember the scandal around the “mur des cons”) did this all by themselves. Why? Why would an organisation that tilts pretty far left follow a course of action to bring a spotlight on something fairly dubious that Macron did, in this PRECISE moment in time?

It just keeps getting weirder. The Canard Enchainé (France's most renowned investigation newspaper) reveals that Pavel Durov told the policemen who arrested him when he landed that he came to have dinner with Macron. Did Macron himself set up a trap to lure Durov to his arrest?
Le Canard enchaîné@canardenchaine

Pavel Dourov, le patron de Telegram, a affirmé aux flics qui l'ont cueilli à sa descente d'avion qu’il était attendu pour dîner avec Macron. L’Elysée a formellement démenti.  "Ce soir-là, le Président était au Touquet", précise un conseiller du Château auprès du "Canard". ➡️ Les détails à 21h sur lecanardenchaine.fr

@realstevebennet @RoddyetBetty @balajis Diplomatic immunity is given by the country where you are with respect to its laws (and there are usually limitations). So country B can't give you diplomatic immunity with respect to country A's laws

@adam_cypher @bell2366 @matthew_d_green ... you have to decrypt data if requested by a judge. In TG case, most of the conversation are not End-to-End encrypted, and so they have the decryption keys. Then they can be legally forced to decrypt the data. 2/...

We are gearing up to release two major features that will complete v1.0 of the AWRD social experience. The return of the Combiner The Combiner is a popular feature from our previous versions, now rebuilt and reimagined for our latest iteration. This feature allows you to use two event types with simple and / or logic to create infinitely complex claim conditions for your posts. For example, give badges to Spaces attendees OR to collectors with a passcode; gate content to a specific location AND to winners of a raffle — the choices are endless. Stars Gifting $Stars Gifting is a brand-new feature that enhances the utility of $Stars, allowing users to show appreciation for posts or other users beyond likes and comments. The concept is straightforward: Like a post? Gift $Stars to the creator. For simplicity, there are preset amounts, and the option to enter a custom amount to precisely express your gratitude. You can also gift $Stars directly to users from their profile using the same interface. $Stars can be used to upgrade accounts to Pro, unlock exclusive posts, and many other features via the web app, Discord bot, and our forthcoming Shopify app. We have a comprehensive roadmap planned for $Stars and points in general, aimed at driving utility and value. Other updates We have been quietly rolling out fixes, upgrades, and enhancements based on user feedback. Most of these subtly improve the Quality of Life, but others are more significant and noticeable. Be on the lookout for daily changes as we shape our product to meet our users' needs.
