If you’re LDS I want to follow you. Feels like we need to come together, and increase our faith in Christ 🙌

Read what I wrote carefully. We analyze the evidence. If we believe there is sufficient evidence to move forward, we do. If we press forward, we will receive a witness. And what is faith? It’s belief in action. If you get a job, do you ask for your paycheck before you’ve put in the work? No. You weigh the evidence, decide there is sufficient evidence that you will get paid if your work. Demonstrate your faith in the company by acting in faith and are rewarded with a paycheck. Replace job with church and paycheck with witness. You’re welcome.

The Book of Mormon witnesses are irrelevant. Why? Because witness testimonies do NOT establish authentic, ancient writings. Even assuming the witnesses were sincere, they do not prove the origin of an artifact. They could just as easily prove they saw a forgery. All the witnesses do is confirm that someone showed them: ➡️gold-colored-metal-type of plates ➡️metal plates with engravings But these people are not experts and can’t determine: ➡️whether the metal was actually ancient ➡️whether the writing was authentic & ancient “reformed Egyptian” ➡️whether the object was recently made or not So for us to judge if they’re authentic, that requires more analysis. NOT just testimony that people saw something, which is indistinguishable from witnessing a forgery. And since we don’t have the plates, we can only test the text and the historical claims surrounding it. Like: ➡️language ➡️historical references ➡️anachronisms ➡️parallels with 19th-century sources Without doing this, belief is just based on nothing but feelings.

It depends on what the end goal is. If we can prove the historicity of the Book of Mormon, the need for faith is removed. There needs to be evidence both for and against the church. Enough evidence for that you can consider it, enough against that it can’t be proven. “for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.”

@TysonHigham @BradWitbeck I’ve already explained. Do the 3 witnesses remove the need to analyze the historicity of the Book of Mormon?

@Eddie1968K It’s the same thing. You still need a deeper analysis.

@BradWitbeck I don’t see the logic how this is utterly false. Regardless of the stories of the witnesses, it doesn’t remove the need to confirm the plates today through historical references, anachronisms and parallels with 19th-century sources.

I’m struggling big time with church. I wish I could put it into words but this app isn’t a place to do it without the pharisees or the exmos commenting.

We know next to nothing about the thief on the cross and yet some like to make all sorts of claims connected to the thief on the cross. And the church is more than just *believers*… Believers in what? The trinity? Sola scriptura? Beliefs differ greatly among Christians so a church has to be more than belief.

Mormonism is a cult. Don't be fooled by their kindness because Mormons are not Christians. Just a reminder that your cult can't save you, only Jesus Christ can! I pray that Mormons can know that Jesus is enough.

Another great video by @JasminRappleye , a Latter-day Saint. She says that the number one thing she recommends not doing if a person starts questioning their faith is to stop connecting with God. This is heartfelt. Lord have mercy.

If Mormons believe in a different Jesus, answer me this: I believe in Jesus who turned water into wine I believe in Jesus who healed a blind man I believe in a Jesus who walked on water I believe in a Jesus who was crucified for my sins I believe in a Jesus who rose from the dead If I believe in a different Jesus, which one do you believe in?

@knowledge274 @firstEstateKLB What? What language problem is there when he said “We believe in the Jesus who rose from the dead.” That’s pretty cut and dry. If you believe in that same Jesus, we believe in the same Jesus.
