ALERT: Machete-wielding man shot and killed by NYPD officer after refusing to drop the knife and shouting, “I am Lucifer” in newly released bodycam footage. Detectives Ryan Giuffre and Anthony Manetta responded to a call saying a man, Anthony Griffin, had randomly slashed 3 victims with a machete in a terminal connected to Grand Central Station. Giuffre asked Griffin multiple times to drop the knife before he retreated back down the stairs and towards the platform. Giuffre can be heard saying in the video, “Nobody wants to hurt you… We can talk about it. Get down. Get down. Dude, I’m not going to ask you again. Please. Please. Please. Get down!” Griffin then replies, saying, “I don’t want to be here. Shoot me… I am Lucifer.” Giuffre fired 2 shots, dropping Griffin to the ground. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said, “They gave clear commands. They attempted to de-escalate. And when that threat did not stop, they took decisive action to stop it and to protect New Yorkers on one of the busiest train platforms in the city.”
