Kentucky is failing right now, and Mark Pope's lack of a coherent roster strategy is the reason.
No retention, whiffing on transfers, and losing top recruits.
You cannot run a blue blood like this.
Pope needs to be on the hot seat, and if he doesn't figure it out instantly, this situation is going to get exceptionally ugly for the Wildcats.

Not only to rebound from Tyran Stokes. Not only to show real signs of improvement after a disappointing season.
But to make me and a lot of #BBN believe in them again. Absolutely no faith in Kentucky right now to do anything.

Kentucky went all in on Tyran Stokes in the 2026 class, and even with its planning in the transfer portal. That gamble did not pay off.
The Cats need to make up ground quickly, without a lot of options.

Losing to Bill Self on the guy Self wanted most is not really a knock on Mark Pope.
Putting your entire Class of 2026 recruiting focus on trying to get the guy Self wanted and everyone told you he would probably get … is a mind-boggling mistake.

It didn’t work out and he went way it looked like he would for some time. Kentucky needs to find a replacement that is very talented and the options aren’t plentiful

Tyran Stokes commits to Kansas, as expected.
Hindsight is 20/20, but Kentucky not pivoting when he didn’t commit in October was a mistake.
Stokes had every right to wait, but you shouldn't have put yourself in the position where one recruit defines your entire HS class.
