In the briefing note from which the @UN Deputy Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Farhan Haq, is reading, several key points are missing: • Throughout the ceasefire in recent months, substantial volumes of aid were transferred, including food quantities amounting to four times the estimated needs that the UN itself defines according to its own methodology. This is a fact also acknowledged by @WFP representatives on the ground. • There is no risk of famine in the Gaza Strip. Both UN representatives on the ground and official local sources report that there are sufficient food stocks for an extended period. It should be noted that just a few days ago, the head of the Gaza Chamber of Commerce stated that food supplies are sufficient for at least six months. • Despite the ongoing rocket threat, tailored operating mechanisms have been formulated to facilitate the crossings to function during this period - and every day, the entry of hundreds of humanitarian aid trucks is facilitated, including those of the UN. • The volume of food entering is aligned with the nutritional requirements presented by the UN in joint meetings with the CMCC. All UN requests to bring in food in recent weeks have been approved and coordinated. • Aid trucks arrive via multiple routes to the humanitarian crossings, including from Jordan and Egypt. UN trucks also arrive from both Jordan and Egypt. We recommend continuing to focus on the facts and the actions on the ground, rather than on statements detached from reality and recycled slogans.

Let’s be clear: Hundreds of aid trucks enter Gaza every single day. Coordination is ongoing and based on the needs raised by the UN and international organizations, with priority given to their requests. Food is entering Gaza and there is sufficient supply for months ahead.

Recent statements from inside Gaza, contradict claims of food shortages: Hossam Al-Huweiki, Acting Head of the Gaza Chamber of Commerce, stated that Gaza currently has food and clothing stocks sufficient for approximately six months! Since the start of the ceasefire, close to 90,000 trucks carrying food and humanitarian aid have entered Gaza. The crossings are open and food continues to enter Gaza. The facts are clear: food is entering Gaza and supplies exist for months ahead. Narratives claiming otherwise simply do not reflect reality. We are comitted to continuing to facilitate the ongoing entry of humanitarian aid and goods into Gaza for the civilian population.
