SRCC and Head of @AUSSOM_, Amb. El Hadji Ibrahima Diene, today met in #Mogadishu with the Acting Assistant Secretary-General and Head of @UNSOS_, Ms. Qurat Ul Ain Sadozai, alongside a delegation from the @UN Headquarters Human Resources Services Division, Department of Operational Support (@UN_OpSupport) The delegation included Jessica Newby, Senior Human Resources Officer; Mads Jensen, Programme Management Officer; Snjezana Valla, Human Resources Officer; and Patrick Duah, Advisor to the Acting ASG. The discussions focused on the ongoing civilian staffing review in #UNSOS and its impact on the effective delivery of #AUSSOM and #UNSOS mandates in an environment of constrained resources, while strengthening collaboration and partnership.

Today, AUSSOM Sector 2 Commander, Brig. Gen. Edward Banda, hosted a joint @UNSOS_–@AUSSOM_ delegation in Kismayo to review operational coordination and sustainment. Led by @AUSSOM_ Acting Head of Mission Support, Ms. Maximillan Oketch, and @UNSOS_ Deputy Chief of Service Delivery, Mr. S.M. Ali Azam, the delegation assessed logistics support enabling operations, force protection and mission delivery. Brig. Gen. Banda commended @UNSOS_’ critical role. Mr. Ali Azam reaffirmed @UNSOS_’ commitment to continued logistical and resource support. The delegation toured ongoing infrastructure works, reinforcing #AU-#UN collaboration for the Somali-led stabilisation. #AUSSOMInTheSectors

As part of efforts to strengthen the technical capabilities of @AUSSOM_ troops, @UNSOS_ has delivered specialised Micro Unmanned Aerial System (MUAS) training to 12 personnel in #Jowhar. Facilitated by the Field Technology Services (FTS) unit, the two-week course equipped participants with practical skills in drone operations, including surveillance and intelligence-gathering, to support field operations and enhance response to security threats. The training is expected to improve situational awareness and enable more timely, informed decision-making in dynamic operational environments.
