@Darren_Mooney It's why I think IMAX formats on home video don't make much sense, they're not an equivalent to the academy ratio, it's just a lot of dead air. The point is the screen being so big it swallows your entire field of vision

Because it’s not information, it’s immersion. The idea of an IMAX screen is not just the ratio, but the size.
When you sit in a proper IMAX theatre, the image almost swallows you up. Projecting that ratio on a regular screen makes the image smaller and less immersive.

I just saw The Mandalorian and Grogu. There's nothing about it that says this had to be a movie. It doesn't advance the plot or characters in any meaningful way, and it could have easily just been a two or maybe three-part filler episode of the show.
