Simple: We barely buy crude from the Middle East. But we import 80–90% of our finished petrol, diesel and jet fuel from Asian refineries (Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia). They get 60–70% of their crude via the blocked strait, so output slashed, tankers cancelled. Our two remaining refineries make just ~20% of what we need. A “global 20%” problem becomes a 100% Aussie nightmare because this government let domestic capacity collapse. How is LNG involved — and what about those “stockpiles” Albo keeps dodging? The deal is a mutual back-scratch: Singapore keeps prioritising diesel and petrol exports to us.
