All I’m seeing is Americans making fun of Brits because we’re complaining it’s too hot. Their response is “JuSt UsE an AC” Our houses don’t have build in ACs and if we were to install an AC, do you realise how much energy it costs? Especially when a heatwave comes for like a few weeks per year. Our houses are build with insulation to keep in the heat because we have more cold weather than hot. Saying that, don’t a lot of states get hurricanes and tornadoes and yet their houses are wooden or have thin walls? Because they’re built for the hot weather right? So if we want to complain about the heat, respectfully let us. Anything you complain about, we’ll let you. It’s not that difficult 😀👍 #Heatwave #UKWeather

I’m paying through the nose (£100/month) for the coverage they’re giving away to international audiences for much cheaper. And I want it to be pro British drivers. If you don’t like it, complain to your local broadcaster that they’re too poor to run their own coverage.

Apparently, based on the replies, Americans are really, really pissed that British people complain about their weather. They think Brits complain because they are too poor to get AC, not because complaining about the weather is like the most important part of their culture.

@54JohnBull im on the ground floor , in an apartment and have a split system installed.

Basic split AC units are not outrageously expensive but there are extra costs because of stupid UK legislation. In Africa the man Kwami from down the road will install it for £20 and gas it up. In the UK it has to be installed by a registered gas fitter adding several hundred pounds to the cost. In the UK you also can't install it if you live in an apartment building due to noise regulations and leasehold stipulations.
