Iran has signaled that last night’s skirmish in the Strait of Hormuz with U.S. Forces, in which it lost several speedboats and fighters of it’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), would not derail negotiations with the United States, as Tehran’s top negotiator, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, remained in Qatar for talks throughout the day Tuesday.

t’s contemptible to compare the two. Putin’s invasion of Ukraine was a tyrant’s attempt to take over a harmless neighboring country to stroke his own ego. A war of pure arrogance and aggression. America’s war against the Islamic Republic is the most just and necessary war we have fought since WWII. The Islamic regime mass slaughtered tens of thousands of innocent Iranians. It has spent years supporting Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, terrorist proxies that have been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands and that has destabilized the entire region. It has been stockpiling ballistic missiles, enriching uranium, working towards being an unstoppable terrorist state. It was now or never. Had the US done nothing we would have been facing a nuclear armed Islamic republic very soon. The Islamic regime must be defeated the same way the Nazis needed to be defeated. This is a war of necessity if there ever has been one.

Iran’s MFA, in an official statement, says the US violated the ceasefire by harassing Iranian commercial ships near the Strait of Hormuz in the last 48 hours. The statement says Washington is acting in bad faith despite diplomacy, and warns that Iran will respond to ceasefire violations and defend its interests.

The attacks today in Iran were an indication of the following: 1) the U.S. maintains that any attempt to mine the Strait of Hormuz is an act of war that will be met with immediate force. 2) The attacks are an attempt to regain the upper hand in negotiations that are not going well. 3) The U.S. is signaling that it will not tolerate low-level harassment or "shadow war" tactics during the peace talks. 4) On a political level it shows that Trump is not comfortable with the emerging deal and wants to postpone admitting he lost. If the US really wanted a deal now, it would not have happened. Trump knows he has no real military option, but is scared of the political consequences of accepting a deal that would be worse than the JCPOA. So he escalates with no real plan.
