The deep error Trump tolerant Republicans and conservatives make is their faith that liberal, constitutional, democracy is so deeply ingrained in our system will survive any malignant president. Our inheritance is more fragile than that, which conservatives should know.

It's a crisis for the Right, and ultimately for the country, that most elected Republicans, conservative commentators, and conservative institutions, cannot find their voice to oppose the obvious threat Trump and his movement pose to the very things we ought to conserve.

I'd say *optimization* is the only way to obtain complexity from primeval simplicity. There are many ways to optimize . Darwinian evolution (mutate and select among a population) is just one particularly simple and *inefficient* way to perform zeroth-order optimization. But there are many, many other methods, including 1st order (gradient-based) methods that are way more efficient whenever they are applicable.
