@nachojcamacho @adulpanget @xshawnthomas "Why they were named so and why they shifted". So they shifted because 80s? As I said they shifted in 2014. Last game on PS3 was 2019, talking like this is some "before there was time".
English

Brother. The discussion is why modern controllers stopped putting the names “start” and “select” buttons on controllers, and replaced them with buttons with different names but have still have the same function. I simply gave a history lesson as to where the “start/select” buttons got popularized, why they were named start/select, and why the names shifted. I’m not “having an argument,” I’m literally telling you what those buttons meant.
English

@nachojcamacho @adulpanget @xshawnthomas I'm telling you first of that you crediting NES is wrong. Im also telling you that what select was used for was also misleading on the NES part you could have added that they were one of the first to put a in game function to the button like switching weapons. Logic doesnt follow
English

@nachojcamacho @adulpanget @xshawnthomas If you know what the discussion is about how can you not see your argument isn't sound? You are bringing up the early 80s/70s which disregards the 2013-2014 use of select and start. P.S. Start comes from arcades and select from Atari. NES put select on the controler doesnt matter
English

@VANJCHINOS @adulpanget @xshawnthomas The point of this discussion is why the button isn’t called “start/select” anymore, and why it was called that in the first place.
I simply misinterpreted your previous post, and thought you were bringing up a different point. My fault.
English

@nachojcamacho @adulpanget @xshawnthomas Escape is used in gaming for the same purpose across 99.99% of games. "Your logic doesn't make sense because modern controllers don't say "start" anymore" bro WHAT 🤣
English

@VANJCHINOS @adulpanget @xshawnthomas Your logic doesn’t make sense. No modern controller says “start” anymore. And escape on a keyboard isn’t for gaming, it’s a universal “back” key that allows you to close, minimize, or back out of certain softwares or menus.
English

@xshawnthomas It also erased history. Arcades got us the start button and Atari got us the select button (called the "game select").
English

@DGarrettDG @LinksToThings @xshawnthomas No. Because Arcades were a thing and start was already established.
English

@LinksToThings @xshawnthomas doesn't start and select come from Japanese controllers originally? did they ever have Japanese text?
English

@adulpanget @nachojcamacho @xshawnthomas I think a button that says "start" follows that if the game is started it will be stopped. Much like "escape" on your keyboard. Your logic does not follow. Select was your map opener now we replaced it with a giant middle button touch pad, because that makes sense.
English

@nachojcamacho @xshawnthomas Start/Select were ubiquitous then, but it isn't now.
Now it only makes sense to people that grew up with it.
Pretty much rendered obsolete, just like any other tech.
English

@nachojcamacho @xshawnthomas You would always pause with the start button on PS2 and PS3 controllers. You are talking about NES 1983 talking about how its old nonsensical while we had the same system when GTA 5 released. It made perfect sense and it makes no sense to get rid of the name and addingNEW symbol
English

“Start” & “Select” were made due to the NES. Back then in MOST games on the main menu, Select was the button that let you scroll through the choices, while Start would confirm your choice and “Start” the game. Nowadays those terms don’t really make sense. Using start to pause the game doesn’t mean much. The new term “options” makes a lot more sense.
English

@GameInfoShi @octoexp490 @OrdinaryGamers He said he is a lefty himself. Though I feel like he is left in the same way Bill Maher is a liberal. Both are popular in the conservative spheres which gets them branded with the "far right/alt-right" lol because everyone whos not "with us" wants to put us in camps.
English

@octoexp490 @OrdinaryGamers You fucking retarded? Like genuinely? If anything he’s more left (though I don’t wanna drag him into any political talk cause he don’t care) like have you looked at his fucking videos?
English

Making a video on this anticheat stuff. As much as people fear monger it nothing here actually damages your system. You can reinstall windows and get access to your cheat hardware.
I wouldn’t stress about false positives on normal systems and even VM systems. If this weirds you out don’t install anti cheats like this but sadly this is what you have to do to fight cheaters these days.

@ZainabSana2622 Phrases like "not all men" piss me off, if someone can't understand that 20%-25% of dudes being willing to commit terrible acts on a whim is still a massive societal issue, they are part of the problem. It's disgusting how frequently predatory behavior gets normalized.
English

@ZainabSana2622 It's not all all of us 1 out of 5 or 6 depending on the reporting stats you believe. That and the number of women I know that had their entire lives shattered as children is enough that I'd say don't take a chance not even with someone you think you can trust. It happens
English

@Sanguiniusbestb @Kurodyne @AgreeingBook13 Insane though that a game can manage to achieve this.
So many AAA flops in recent years, why not just make sure its planted correctly?
English

@LegatoSkyheart @raphael_merino @xaviersonline_ The movements literal core and stated objective by its creator as well as others pushing it is in fact preservation and consumer rights.
The movement literally became what it is today because of "The Crew" being delisted by EA. Any game with server check will be the same.
English

@VANJCHINOS @raphael_merino @xaviersonline_ No it has never been about that. It's about making video games playable after being taken off the market.
Game peservation benefits from it because it includes online only games like MMOs.
It is not about the delisting of video games.
English

Lego sacrificing their public image so the Stop Killing Games lawsuit can win in a landslide

Wario64@Wario64
LEGO 2K Drive will delist on May 19th, 2026 NOTE: All multiplayer servers for LEGO® 2K Drive will be shutdown as of 05/31/2027. After that time, all game functions requiring online servers will no longer function. store.steampowered.com/app/1451810/LE…
English

@LegatoSkyheart @raphael_merino @xaviersonline_ It is about preservation. If you delist a game you shouldnt hunt people down for listing it.
English

@raphael_merino @xaviersonline_ Stop Killing Games isn't really about the delisting of video games. It's that the delisting makes the game that is owned by people ceases to function.
Even if the game gets delisted the game that people bought should still be playable.
English

@ShirakoTheFirst @xaviersonline_ Soooo "only stop killing games I personally care about" mentality?
English

@xaviersonline_ Please regale me on what is lost in that going offline.....what man child is crying over that loss.
On it's face, it should be noted that it seems.lile a severe cash grab during a time when racing games were all the rage, but they missed the mark. Same with the hotwheels ones.
English

@thrillhouse01 @lthlnkso Is that the same Vanessa Tigert that falsely claimed the connection was installed without approval and the water was being taken without their knowledge? When it was just her asinine lack of knowledge and ridiculous wording that caused a non-issue to be parroted by far-left rags?
English

The "30 million gallons" figure was over 6 months. Fayette County Water System produces 17.3 million gallons per day. The data center used a little less than 1% of the county's water.
Robert Reich@RBReich
Residents in Fayette County, Georgia noticed their water pressure was unusually low. Turns out that a data center 20 miles away had been drawing 30 million gallons of water in secret through connections the county didn't know existed. Is it any wonder why so many are opposed to data centers? politico.com/news/2026/05/0…
English

@baleygr728528 @lthlnkso Most likely they were given permission for higher pressure usage and when they request it homes near the center connecting to the same pipe line have a drop in pressure. This can be solved by either changing how the center connects or giving people systems to boost pressure.
English

@Elvis_Bob @FrankTown @RBReich Its also a fact it was due to incompetence and the amount was paid. It is also a fact that not even 1% of COUNTYs water is not "a excess draw". I don't get how this is even a story (I do, its bait for clicks) but on man is it annoying to deal with.
English

@FrankTown @RBReich Factually correct. Doesn't change the excess draw on water or the fact the county was unaware of it until complaints came in.
Those are still facts.
