Brother. The discussion is why modern controllers stopped putting the names “start” and “select” buttons on controllers, and replaced them with buttons with different names but have still have the same function. I simply gave a history lesson as to where the “start/select” buttons got popularized, why they were named start/select, and why the names shifted. I’m not “having an argument,” I’m literally telling you what those buttons meant.

@nachojcamacho @adulpanget @xshawnthomas If you know what the discussion is about how can you not see your argument isn't sound? You are bringing up the early 80s/70s which disregards the 2013-2014 use of select and start. P.S. Start comes from arcades and select from Atari. NES put select on the controler doesnt matter

@VANJCHINOS @adulpanget @xshawnthomas The point of this discussion is why the button isn’t called “start/select” anymore, and why it was called that in the first place. I simply misinterpreted your previous post, and thought you were bringing up a different point. My fault.

Adaptations have changed and shifted around with it a lot, but the slime look actually comes from venom and carnage. In early/modern comics, the black suit simulated cloth. It was also Peter’s main wardrobe, shape shifting into whatever outfit he wanted. It was so convincing in being cloth that both MJ and Black Cat touched it and couldn’t tell.

@Ryan_Gasoline @Meelsie143 The glob was describing the ball. In this specific comic line, the venom symbiote shapeshifted, changing into whatever clothing he wanted, except for his classic suit which he actually brings up here.

@Meelsie143 He described it as a glob on the first page it appeared. It definitely got more disgusting over time but it was never cloth

@VANJCHINOS @adulpanget @xshawnthomas Your logic doesn’t make sense. No modern controller says “start” anymore. And escape on a keyboard isn’t for gaming, it’s a universal “back” key that allows you to close, minimize, or back out of certain softwares or menus.

@adulpanget @nachojcamacho @xshawnthomas I think a button that says "start" follows that if the game is started it will be stopped. Much like "escape" on your keyboard. Your logic does not follow. Select was your map opener now we replaced it with a giant middle button touch pad, because that makes sense.

That’s because the industry changed. Most big shows are either made by large execs, or branched off of an indie project, or YouTube project. Getting into animation and posting your work is easier than ever now. Build up your portfolio and work, give people a REASON to listen to you.

@MattDane552022 @xshawnthomas A lot of nes games didn’t use dpad in the main menu. Several of those games are on the Switch NES shop, so you can see for yourself.

@xshawnthomas @nachojcamacho Select was almost never used to select anything. We just used the d pad and start. If I remember right, in most games on the NES, select didn't do anything at all.

@ParkBarringtonX @xshawnthomas Nothing wrong with it. It’s just back in the day “start” and “select” were the universal names for those buttons. But now newer consoles are sorta doing their own thing.

@lerripunc @xshawnthomas The buttons “start” and “select” were LITERALLY named that in early nes, snes, ps1, etc controller. The original poster asked where the names for those buttons names disappeared and were changed. I gave him the original reason why those buttons were named that in the first place

It’s crazy how much more sane my timeline became after I blocked/muted a whole bunch of words, like “fandom, toxic, tadc, circus, boys, racist, racism, politics, etc…” Feels actually fun and usable again

I love the racists in this chat with all the “ya’ll white people.” It’s like people can’t have an opinion anymore, and then when they get slightly offended they jump straight to that card of wishing the worst on someone. It’s not as big of a defense as you think it is, you just look childish.

You know what, I don’t care anymore. If you genuinely think Gooseworx is racist, you are a bad person. If the most evidence you can come up with is years old edgy jokes that are barely anything at all anyway, then you are purposely being an evil peace of shit

I mean…this is literally the reason in the comics.? He’s the symbol of hope, and wants a costume that’s approachable and friendly to kids, and so people don’t fear him. The literally the WHOLE idea. And that’s why the juxtaposition with Batman is funny, because Batman is in all dark colors, and is meant to be feared by his enemies.

Honestly it’s an issue that was grinded into us in school. Remember when in language arts the whole “why do you think the author made the curtains blue, what does it represent?” Sometimes it means something, but other times it’s just a meaningless detail. We’ve been raised and hardwired to read into everything, read between the lines, and create theories and patterns into something that may or may not justify it.

@Glatier8171 @nachojcamacho @LucyPyre_ Yet they're doing what the show wants them to do "pay attention". The problem is binge watching, they wait until a show's season is done and watch the WHOLE thing. When really you were supposed to watch it one episode per week.

do writers just really suck at making endings for their tv shows and stories or are viewer expectations impossibly high? i can’t remember the last time the internet was happy with how something ended
