Today, @LincolnClubOC hosted a forum with @SteveHiltonx and @ChadBianco for its members. It was the first time during the campaign that the two appeared on stage together.
I held my friend Tamar’s baby in one arm while I took notes for you with my other.
The intro by Becki Donatelli was the best part: “Everyone in this room can only vote for one of you, but everyone in this room wants both of you.” So true!!
📝 The Notes:
👉🏼They were asked about population/business flight; homelessness ie drug & mental health crisis; plans to address affordability; energy & wildfire policy; building infrastructure & reducing crime; and how to advance a Republican agenda in a Blue State.
👉🏼They both understand the nature of these problems and were prepared to answer the questions.
👉🏼Hilton’s answers focused on specific policy proposals and his plan to implement them through the budget process.
👉🏼Bianco’s answers focused on his successful record for problem-solving as an elected “executive” to the Sheriff’s office in a Blue County.
👉🏼My opinion is these forums are helpful to voters to show contrast, and it is also helpful to the candidates to sharpen each other, and therefore they should do as many as possible. There are more scheduled in the future as well as official debates with the Dem candidates, too.
👉🏼Final Thought: We are in a rare, once in blue moon moment where we have two excellent Republican candidates at the top of the polls, who do not reject MAGA or Trump (he was mentioned fondly by both candidates). This is VERY new for the @CAGOP and a long time coming. This is honestly my favorite aspect of the race and a big, positive development in California politics.

During his remarks in Sacramento alongside California Service Corps members, Newsom unveiled a push to recruit and add 10,000 paid positions focused on disaster response, education, climate action, and community projects. SORRY STATE: The student newspaper of Loyola University Chicago has issued an editor’s note apologizing for calling the alleged killer of 18-year-old student Sheridan Gorman an "illegal immigrant," saying it didn't align with their style guide or values.
The editor's note reads: “No human’s existence is illegal, and we quickly changed our wording to reflect that. We acknowledge the harm such language can cause and the power and importance of the words we choose to use.”

LA increases taxes to pay for criminal activity!

The Sixth Street Bridge in Los Angeles cost taxpayers $588 million. Because of repeated copper wire thefts, it no longer lights up at night. The City now admits it takes them sometimes up to 270 days to fix one streetlight. Also, instead of punishing the criminals who are committing these thefts and forcing them to pay restitution, the City today just voted to increase everyone’s taxes with a new fee hike. Our LA government at work.

Right off the freeway in San Diego, on state property run by Newsom’s Caltrans, you’ve got homeless encampments in every direction.
Fire risk. Debris. Health hazards. Local residents have been asking for action for years. Nothing’s been done.
In 2024, Newsom said: “If we don’t deal with this, we don’t deserve to be in office.”
It’s now 2026. He didn't deal with it, and he doesn't deserve to be in office.

President Trump signaled his excitement over @ElonMusk’s offer, and was moving forward with trying to make it happen.
But federal laws severely limit private citizens’ abilities to pay US government employees, and this is likely a reason Elon’s offer has been declined.
While private citizens are free to donate as much as they want to the Treasury, the Constitution requires Congress to appropriate the funds prior to disbursement from the Treasury.
Which they obviously haven’t done.
