Writing production grade AI agents: 1. Use Claude Agent SDK - your agent loop is sorted here and CC already has access to a bunch of tools like web search, file operations, etc., out of the box. It also text care of context management - very important for a great agent to perform long running operations. 2. Learn to write great sub agents - these are markdown files with a detailed prompt, stored under .claude/agents/. Writing good sub agents is purely prompt engineering; detailing out what the agent persona is and giving lots of examples of its flow and tool usage. 3. Learn MCP. All the useful SaaS and dev tools have their APIs exposed as MCP servers. Learn how to write good tools that can be exposed via a MCP server. It is an art to write great tools. You have to give enough tools to get the job done but not so much that you poop all over the context window of the model. That. Is. All. No other secret sauce.
